The next patch that I made on Zebra2 was a snare drum. This took a fair bit longer to figure out as it includes getting the right level of noise and click together to make a snare sound. Again I used a tutorial that I found on YouTube to help guide me through the process and after an hour or so I managed to create a good sounding snare. The difference between the kick and snare drum is that the kick was firstly, simple to make and secondly, it used an oscillator. Whilst the snare sound used a FMO, white noise and a XMF. Something that I haven’t done before was using the MSEG and to create the pattern in which whatever it was assigned to would react. For example, for the snare the MSEG was assigned to the volume which would help create a more realistic snare sound as a snare when first hit is at its loudest and then reduces in volume and so an MSEG is a great way in producing realistic sounds on the computer. In terms of the envelope there was a fast attack, slight delay, sustain and release. The MSEG was also assigned to the tuning on the FMO, which also helped create the sound of a snare, as there isn’t just one frequency in a snare hit. In terms of effects that were used, I used a shaper that would shape the sound better and EQ.
