I seriously read beets at first. So, Dimitri’s gift as a part of the Drugha was an interesting thing to develop. I needed him to be able to interact with the world even though his hands glow blue and can char/turn to ash anything he touches in a matter of seconds when at full power. The answer, his powers are intimately connected to his emotions so when he’s calm it’s not “active” and he can touch things and move about in the world. When he’s angry, aroused, stressed, frustrated, sad to the point of being any of the previous his gift lights up. At that point, his hands glow with a blue power that can kill a person by instantly turning them to carbon chunks. It’s sort of heat based but it’s instantaneous when he’s at full power so you don’t see flames you just see a person turn to ash. When it’s not full strength, it burns anything he touches and can char things like bookshelves, mattress, books, and melt metal items. That he’s used to “lock” doors. He can try to back down from full power but it’s really difficult because the black haze that settles over his eyes comes with a desire to wreak havoc. He can feel drunk on the power and want to kill everything in sight. Almost nothing is immune to his power so he’s considered an extremely formidable demon.
