Learning to "spell" || Bert & Penny
"Bert, what's...pop-you-lation?"
Penny jutted her chin in Bert's direction, going over her spelling and social sciences homework. Quite a big topic for someone her age, but she was smart-- Just nosey and curious. Maybe 'impertinent' but she didn't know what that meant either.
"And," she added, propping up the dusty green square as she held the chalk in careful fingers, "How do ya' SPELL it? That's the HARD part..."
"P-O-P--" Started the cat to her left, but Penny scowled and waggled the chalk at him,
"I asked Bert!" The cat yawned and huffed over his brustly mustache, sitting up to stretch as he tutted, "Well, I'm sure Bert knows allll-sort'sa things! But you asked in my general direction--" "Rufus," Penny tutted, and the cat smiled all the same, shaking his head,
"Alright, alright," He conceded, "But I'll spell check!"
"You'll fall asleep first," She muttered, focusing on the word, but Rufus wasn't listening-- He was already curled in a ball. Penny rolled her eyes and beamed at Bert,
"Well, you know, don't cha'?"
