What is your favorite kind of dinner food, drink, and fanfic trope to write?

As of right now, the tism has me stuck on (vegetarian) nuggies and tots. But I try to adult them with melted cheese and chili crisp. I love food and I can be very diverse, but then I have my go to of nuggies and tots. And I'm working my way through testing out all the zero sugar sodas. Got a case of Tropical 7Up currently *chefs kiss*

For fanfic, I love a good Canon divergence. Enemies to lovers. But I think I'm best at writing hurt/comfort personally. I think that's the most consistent trope I utilize. I like digging into that.

I used to have a super terrible tattoo (shop had Kanji flash, I was a teenage dirtbag weeb), but I found a local tattoo artist where I live now a few years back whose work I love and asked them to do a cover up for me! And now I have a funky lil guy on my back. They made up a guy for me! He's standing impossibly inside the crescent of a moon that also strategically hides the fact that I made a horrible decision in my youth and I think that's so freaking cool!

Speaking for youthful decisions, I once 'met' Erick Avari! In passing! In a hotel lobby at a comic convention! At like 3am! On my got laid parade! I have no idea what he was doing, but we passed like ships in the night and gave each other (what I remember as) a very cool, single upward nod of acknowledgment. But it felt like getting high fived. (Ron Howard Narrator: It was not like getting high fived.)

Thanks for the ask! This blog is dedicated to one WIP, my novel Lambswool. (Today I actually finally got around to posting a WIP intro, complete with a Vibe Video™️ if you're interested.)

I have other ideas for stories and novels, but the one that has bewitched me body and soul the past 3-ish years has been Lambswool.

I think it's because it's super fun for me to think about and research for. It's like a sugary candy for me since it's filled with everything I'm obsessed with right now: folk horror, witchcraft, the occult, demonology, pagan beliefs, gothic tropes, folk culture, and how all these things are interrelated. It's also explores topics I'm super passionate about, like queerness and class and oppression and resistance and how all of that relates to the above "non-political" topics. The characters have also been functioning as avenues through which I'm exploring personal things I've gone through/am going through. It's a way for me to reconnect with a lot of the gothy interests I've been most into my whole life, but I sort of drifted away from for a long time in my early adult life. And it's an avenue for me to reconnect with my younger self through the protagonists, who are also young and who I initially made up when I was a kid myself. So when returning to it as an adult I was revisiting little guys I already loved. It brings me joy is I guess the short answer haha.

I have a habit of buying blorbo headcanon adjacent things. On my desk right now is a candle called "BIG SKY" with a horse on the label that smells like sandalwood and jasmine with notes of lavender, musk, vanilla, and amber because I saw the label, then smelled it, and declared "THIS IS WHAT CAPTAIN PIKE SMELLS LIKE!" Many such things are like this, I do very fun things with my grown-up money. :)

I went back to college as an adult after flunking out haaaard in my late teens and decided to do community college. One of my friends who knows I'm into nerdy stuff/comics recommended I take the class of a locally known comic book author. I signed up for his Brit Lit course and spent the entire semester taking psychic damage every Tuesday and Thursday because this comic book author should not have been allowed to teach anything but especially not literature. Our final assignment was to read The Killing Joke and put together our dream fancast for a movie version and I wish to fuck I was joking about that. Other memorable moments included a lecture about how Victorians definitely thought table legs were sexy and another lecture about how Mary Shelley probably didn't write Frankenstein (because "why would a little girl write something good when Lord Byron and Percy Shelley are right there to have ghost written it for her?"). At the end of the semester I left a very scathing "anonymous" review of his course calling out the Mary Shelley thing specifically and what misogynistic bullshit it was to only cover ONE woman author in the entire course and THEN teach her work as not being her own. I guess I kinda forgot that I live in a smallish area? And run in comic circles? And would probably see this man again at some point? Because sure as shit I run into him like the next year at a local comic show and he kinda nervously but kinda excitedly tells me that he's expanded his Brit Lit course to include Jane Austen, too, and only THEN did I have the epiphany about "anonymous" feedback. Cautionary tale and like wow Jane Austen okay but it was actually VERY COOL to see him trying. (Also for posterity: his comic books are pretty much putting women in sexy situations drawn sexually and I should have 100% checked his body of work before signing up for his class.)
