They’re kinda like wasps. But also bees.. I’ve been considering on just calling them sand burrowers but that name is LAME so whatever. Ok now onto the actually interesting stuff

their colonies are ‘primitive’ in the same sense that wasps are, smaller then those of other superorganisms and have less physical role alterations. They reside in the coast lines of salty beaches in drylands, so they get most of their sustenance through the salty waters and the micro-organisms in there (not like. IN the beach just the really shallow parts, wet sand??)

they have digger ‘claws’ as their hives are built through the harsh sand of the salty beaches, most coastlines would be very steep and the layer of sand would be very thick - thus making it a viable area for digging. Their mandibles are used for strengthening the tunnels made in it, whether it be for smoothening it or.. spitting the saltwater they would inject through their proboscis, spreading it with said mandibles. The structure of the hives are commonly a bunch of tunnels leading to the inside, a large ‘room’ where the queen lays, and a area where the larvae are.

Their behavior is also seasonal, during winter future queens are born and nurtured - aswell as males. During this the males made before then would be the ones blocking the entrances to the hive, and then. Well.dying. Cause they blocked themselves out. But they didn’t really have a role then breeding with the queen so it doesn’t really matter to the rest. They feed on the larvae similar to wasps where they provide a liquid made from the food the workers would give to them during autumn (like other smaller insects). During spring/summer the entrances to the hive are unblocked by those inside. the queens and males are now starting to fully metamorphise, and leave the hive to raise their on colony (if they don’t get eaten by birds.)

and yeah that’s it. Bugs r cool. I made this today cause I thought it was cool so I know DAMN WELL!!! That there’s alot of incorrect stuff,,but I made it for fun so idc
