I’ve honestly been mostly reading books that I read when I was a kid! I’ve completely forgotten the plots so I’m still able to enjoy them, but they’re quick and easy to get through which helps a lot to keep your reading momentum going. I’ve definitely gotten a lot of motivation to read again, so I’m starting to move on to books geared towards adults

Here are the books that I’ve finished over my week-long break:

Ella Enchanted

Classic Starts: The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes (a very condensed version of the original stories)

The Tale of Despereaux

And here are the books I’m currently reading: 

My friend has been trying to get me into a new series that’s pretty intimidating since the books are so long, but I’ve been slowly working on reading Mistborn: The Final Empire, though I am definitely nowhere near finishing it yet haha

I’ve also been listening to Emma as an audiobook

Next up I hope to read The Picture of Dorian Gray

How on Earth had he lasted this long alive without feeling the surge in his chest he had when he looked down at the little pink bundle. Bullet was the love of his life, his soulmate, yes, but there was definitely something to be said about the love a man had for his first born baby girl.

Drew looked down at his girls, Bullet half-asleep, holding the little wrinkled baby girl she had given birth to only an hour ago. God, he had never felt anything like it. He wanted to protect them both and keep them sheltered from the world. The harsh, cruel world. 

And when he got to hold her, finally, Drew couldn’t help it. He broke down in tears, overwhelmed by the power that the little girl in his arms had over him already.

The same power she’d use all her life, to keep her dad wrapped around her finger, but he loved her to death.

They were skin on skin, lips pressed together in slow, soft kisses. He was holding her tight, their breath even mingling together in a slow rhythm. Sweat dried on their backs, and her scent filled his mind, just like she always did. Bullet was the constant in Drew’s mind. Always.

They had gone on a run and now, now she had tangled with some brambles. Drew tore his mouth as his fangs dug into them, pulling them from around her paw. He scented her blood and it had him tugging harder until she was free.

They were a tempestuous couple, he figured it was because they were shifters. Drew hadn’t meant to say the words he’d said, nor had he meant to put his fist through the wall. She frustrated him to no end when she needed to hear and see that his feelings were true all the time, no matter how many times she had seen him prove he loved her. This time she’d asked at the wrong time, on the wrong bad day, and he had gone feral for just a second.

“Can you stop bein’ needy for five fuckin’ seconds?”

The fist had come out, hitting the hallway wall as he made his way to the shower. He felt instantly contrite as the water came on and he washed himself. He almost expected her to be gone when he got out, when he’d cooled off, when he was ready to apologize. He came out looking like a kicked pup with a towel around him, his eyes downcast.

“No. No I don’t, it’s just been a shit fuckin’ day, Bully. I needed a minute. I’m sorry...”
