Baby’s first rock carving ?
*through gritted teeth* Learning a new skill is hard! The results may not look how you envisioned right away! It's all a learning process!
I'm gradually figuring out various bits for the dremel! I reallyyyyy overcommitted on my first project in terms of complexity, but it's very fun to fuck around and find out. Bas relief carving has always seemed magical to me, and I have lots of ideas for the future...
There's a maple in our backyard with a dead branch with a tree hollow occupied by a family of chickadees. I want to figure out a way to screw in interchangeable roofs like replacing a lightbulb. An onion dome is probably the first one as proof of concept, then if I get nasty I would love to mimic the roofs I've admired in architecture for years. St. Basil's of COURSE! Wat Xieng Thong! Casa BatllĂł! Then I got a little lost in the weeds of whether it was disrespectful to make a little replica of part of a holy site (you wouldn't download a basilica!), but that's neither here nor there.
I also think it would be fun to make some of the small muckles/domovoi-spirits from the Pettson and Findus books and hide them around our backyard for my son to discover!

Picked up a stylo+ today because my 4300 needs a carbon brush replacement and I’m waiting for the parts in the mail. And honestly for stone carving that might just be the move in general. So much easier to handle and maneuver

My fish #myfish
My dremel stopped working and I was like wtf and so I started looking into it and everything was like “check the carbon brushes for wear they need to be replaced periodically” but all the sources I saw were like “after twelve years I eventually needed to replace my dremel’s carbon brushes 👍” so I was like well that can’t be it I’ve barely had my dremel 1.5 years. But After a while of every single source telling me that was the issue I did a troubleshooting test where I flipped the orientation of the carbon brushes in the machine just to see and sure enough it was absolutely the carbon brushes. Which means I’ve put a lot of hours into this thing. Or maybe I should kill the guy who obviously uses his tool for like 1 hour a week or less needing a replacement after 12 years for leading me astray. Idk. Haven’t decided
My fucking wife (dremel 4300) just fucking died
