Johan’s grandpa Siggy is from Iceland and when he immigrated to America he took a dragon egg with him. Upon Johan’s birth, the egg also hatched, magically linking the two of them. As Siggy’s health starts to wane, it is time they take the dragon back home.
This was so interesting to get a little peak into Icelandic customs and traditions and stories, bringing to life a culture that few think of. I enjoyed our dragon, Dreki, though I wish we got to have more connection with him. At times I felt like the writing was a bit juvenile, but I liked it nonetheless. The ending specifically touched my heart.
