Tae knew this day would happen. He knew this would happen the day they finally received the terrible news from the doctor a year ago. He knew this day would come but still he wished he’d had more time with him, he wished they still have more time left to sing and laugh and dance together. But he also knew that even if they have more time, it would never be enough.The band had already left, their parents were out there doing something he didn’t care about as he saw his brother sleeping and breathing slowly, the only audible sound being the beeping from the machines in the hospital and it’s own breathing.He was looking at his phone until he heard the sheets moving and that made him look up at his brother that was trying to sit down. “Shh, it’s okay” Tae said as he tried to hold his brother from getting up and just moved closer to him. Tobias chuckled but let himself being pushed to the bed. “You never let me do anything” Tobias said with a pout and a weak smile and it almost brought Tae to tears.Tae scoffed and rolled his eyes, trying to appear as light and joyful as ever. Tae felt the warmth of his brother’s hand on his and a weak squeeze from it. He looked at him and he saw a strange light in his eyes as he spoke. “But we did so many things together, right?”Tae smiled and squeezed his hand back. “Oh yeah, and just wait for the ones that are yet to come!” He said as he tried to keep his voice steady. Tobias let out a chuckle and closed his eyes. “Thanks for the adventure”

Haven't really talked much about it, save for mentioning it once or twice to a few people, but I was asked to step in and take over teaching MJ's Asian Cinema class this semester after her passing. Tonight was my first class. We talked about MJ and what a unique spirit, artist and instructor she was. They asked about why no statement from the university she taught at for so long, and I didn't have an answer for them. Luckily, I was able to answer the rest of their questions with ease and some authority (faked though it may have been), and I made it through my first class. We had an amazing discussion about the film, In the Mood For Love (2000) and Asian Cinema and cultural expressions overall!! And even had one of the students thank me for the great discussion after class!! 😲😶🥰What?!? I have such amazing and huge shoes to fill, that I can only hope to be a fraction of the Instructor she was for these students (in small part because I'm only a Lecturer not an Instructor, but in larger part because of who that Instructor was). So grateful for all the teachers I've had over the years who unknowingly prepped and readied me for today. I followed so many the wonderful examples you all set for me over my lifetime, and so proud to take some small part of all of your teachings forward with me on this new journey. You were all there with me tonight, but MJ's presence was especially felt! Much love.
