The Oldest Lisa & Jung Jaewon (ONE) Fandom Rumor: A Timeline of Coincidences, Fan Theories, and Why Dream Brought It Back
Hey 🫠
I've been wanting to put together a timeline of one of the oldest rumors that's ever surrounded Lisa and Jung Jaewon (ONE)
Before I start, I want to make one thing clear: none of this has ever been confirmed. Everything you're about to read is a collection of coincidences, memories from fans who were following everything at the time, and interpretations that have built up over the years. In the end, everyone is free to draw their own conclusions
I've been following both Lisa and Jaewon pretty much since their debuts, so I still remember many of these moments from when people first started talking about them, along with information that's still available today
When Dream was released in 2025, I noticed that many fans began revisiting these old discussions. That made me want to gather everything in one place and organize it into a roughly chronological timeline, just to make it easier to understand where this story came from and how it evolved over the years
⚠️ This is a very long post, so feel free to jump to whichever section interests you most.
Who is Jung Jaewon?
Before getting into all of this, I think it's worth explaining who he is, because there's a good chance that a lot of people who joined the fandom more recently have never even heard of him.
Jung Jaewon, better known as ONE, is a rapper, solo artist, and actor who was signed under a YG Entertainment subsidiary. Even though he originally debuted as part of the duo 1PUNCH in 2015, most people know him for his solo debut under YG two years later. He eventually started acting as well.
In July 2019, he left YG Entertainment to continue his career independently. That same year, he founded his own label and released PRVT 01, his first album after leaving the company.
After that, he gradually stepped away from the public eye. Over time, he deleted his social media accounts and pretty much disappeared from the music industry, so it's completely understandable that people who became Lisa fans years later might not even know who he is.
2015–2016
Before BLACKPINK's debut
Interestingly, this whole story didn't start after BLACKPINK became successful—it actually goes back to before the group even debuted.
Back then, people in YG Family fan communities were already saying that Lisa and Jaewon were close when she was still a trainee. Jaewon also spent a lot of time with other YG artists and trainees, so it wasn't unusual to see him hanging out with different groups of friends. Some Korean fans even claimed they had seen Lisa and Jaewon together a few times, although they could've just been friends.
One of the things that got people talking even more was YG's livestreams. At the time, it was really common for artists to jump into each other's lives, chat, and casually appear together.
During one of those livestreams, where Jaewon was also there, they mentioned having a friend group—or as they called it, a little "gang"—made up of several YG artists. They also said that Lisa was the only girl in that group.
After that, more and more people started linking the two together. But at the time, it mostly stayed within the Korean fandom and never really became a well-known topic internationally.
If you've been following both Lisa and Jaewon since those days, you probably also remember that Lisa's name came up pretty often during Jaewon's lives and other YG artists' livestreams. I still remember it because they used to go live all the time, and everyone was constantly joining each other's streams and interacting with one another.
Unfortunately, almost none of those livestreams have survived.
There's never been an official explanation for why they disappeared. Some people think they were simply lost over time because no one kept reuploading them, while others believe that a lot of the trainee-era content and pre-debut BLACKPINK footage was removed once the group officially debuted.
Personally, I think that's also one of the reasons why it's so hard to trace where this ship originally came from. (Although I still think YG had something to do with it lol. Back then they were constantly taking videos down—even I had several Lisa videos removed from Twitter not long after her debut 😞)
2017
After BLACKPINK debuted, people started talking about all of this even more, especially in some Korean communities where rumors like these were pretty common.
Around that time, there was even a rumor going around that Lisa was dating a YG Entertainment artist. Of course, no one ever said who it was, and it stayed nothing more than speculation. But within the YG Family fandom, Jaewon's name was definitely one of the ones that came up the most.
2018
If there was one year when this whole story really took off, it was probably this one.
During BLACKPINK's first concert in Seoul, several YG Entertainment artists sent flower stands to congratulate the group, including iKON, Sechs Kies, and ONE (Jaewon). Each flower stand had a ribbon with the sender's name on it, so at first there wasn't anything unusual about it.
What caught people's attention was ONE's flower stand. Unlike most of the others, which looked pretty similar, his stood out because of its bright yellow flowers. It also came with a separate bouquet that was completely yellow.
After the concert, the BLACKPINK members posted a few photos from the event. But a little while later, Lisa uploaded another post with three pictures where she was specifically posing next to ONE's flower stand. You could clearly see Jaewon's name on the ribbon, the flower stand behind her, and the yellow bouquet she was holding.
The interesting part is that, out of all four members, Lisa was the only one who posted photos with any of the flower stands they received that day. None of the other members shared pictures with them, so that little detail made people talk even more.
Over the years, Lisa has mentioned several times that yellow is her favorite color and that she loves yellow flowers, especially sunflowers. So for a lot of people, the fact that the bouquet ONE sent was completely yellow ended up being the "icing on the cake."
Of course, Jaewon sent the flowers to congratulate BLACKPINK as a group, and the yellow bouquet could've easily just been the florist's choice. Even so, it's not hard to see why this became one of the most talked-about moments when it comes to this ship. Out of every flower stand they received that day, Lisa was the only member who chose to take photos with one—and it just happened to be ONE's.
2019
Up until this point, most of the story was based on rumors, little coincidences, and things people who followed both of them had noticed over the years. But 2019 was probably the year that made this whole thing blow up, because several events happened one after another and people immediately started connecting them.
July 2019
On July 17, 2019, YG Entertainment officially announced that Jung Jaewon (ONE) would be leaving the company to continue his career independently.
At the time, he was still one of YG's few male solo artists, so the news got a lot of attention.
What people found interesting was that just one day before the announcement, Lisa posted Goodbyes by Post Malone on her Instagram Story.
Since these rumors had already been around for years, some people took that Story as a possible goodbye to him. The song is about two people who still care about each other despite everything, so it didn't take long for people to come up with their own theories. To this day, it's still one of the most talked-about moments when it comes to this ship.
August & September 2019
A few weeks later, another coincidence got people talking all over again.
In August 2019, BLACKPINK traveled to Japan to perform at Summer Sonic 2019. There are plenty of photos, videos, and even official vlogs from that trip.
Not long after, Lisa went back to Japan. She was seen leaving Incheon International Airport on September 6 to attend the Japan Wired Music Festival, and she returned to Korea on September 19.
Meanwhile, Jaewon was also in Tokyo. On September 14, he performed at Mosh Mosh Vol. 3, an event organized by Junior Chef.
So, during that same month, both of them happened to be in the same city. Naturally, people started wondering if they might have met up while they were there.
At the time, though, it was just another coincidence to add to the list.
Late 2019
After leaving YG Entertainment, Jaewon started his own label and released PRVT 01, his first album as an independent artist.
After that release, he slowly began stepping away from social media. He still posted every now and then throughout 2020 and 2021 and made a few occasional appearances, but he became less and less active.
Then, in 2022, something caught the attention of the people who were still following his career. His Instagram account, @onlyoneprivate, was completely deactivated. He hadn't posted in a long time, but deleting the account altogether made it feel like he was officially closing that chapter of his life.
He never brought the account back, and since then, it has only reinforced the idea that he decided to step away from the public eye almost completely.
2020
A lot of people remember Jaewon disappearing right after releasing PRVT 01, but that's not exactly what happened. During the first few months of 2020, he was still around every now and then.
At the beginning of January, while BLACKPINK was in Osaka for their Dome Tour, the Private Only account also posted Instagram Stories from Osaka.
Since people were still talking about this whole story, some fans later looked back at that coincidence and even said that it might've been the last time Lisa and Jaewon happened to be in the same city.
After those first few months, Jaewon gradually faded from the public eye.
Even so, he made a few rare appearances. In October 2021, he was featured in a photoshoot for Numéro Netherlands, modeling Celine. It ended up being one of the last times people saw him doing any kind of fashion-related work.
In 2022, he was also briefly seen in a video with singer-songwriter Mokyo. Later on, a few clips started circulating online showing him at a club with other people.
Then, in June 2024, people started talking about him again after a fan shared a photo that supposedly showed him waiting at a bus stop in Itaewon. It's one of the most recent pictures of Jaewon that's been shared publicly.
A month later, producer Millennium (Choi Rae-sung), who worked with him during their time at YG, mentioned Jaewon during a livestream. He said Jaewon was doing well, that he still had old songs he'd written, and even that he had been thinking about making music again.
As of today, though, he's still keeping a very low profile and hasn't officially returned to the music industry.
