Bought some Knotty Boy dread shampoo today.
It seriously smells so good.
Can I just glue this to my face please.

So good.
Dreadlock shampoo experiment update (and Nag Champa soap review)
Recap
There is some build-up in my dreads around the strings the stylist installed at my scalp when I got them done. It's not very noticeable, but if I'm going to keep my dreads for years, I don't want to find build-up after only a month. I decided to first try an apple cider vinegar rinse, and then test a new shampoo, to see if it was the Knotty Boy shampoo I was using.
THE RESULTS
ACV rinse: First, I substituted my usual wash with an ACV rinse. Usually, I like an ACV rinse mid-week, but I have to say that for me, it's not a substitution for a good wash. My head was itchy again by the end of the day. There didn't seem to be a change in the amount of build-up after the ACV rinse.
Nag Champa Beauty Soap review: Just under a week later, I washed my hair with the Nag Champa soap. It suds up wonderfully and smelled amazing! My hair smelled great for days after that wash. I freaking love the smell of Nag Champa. But despite the great smell and the awesome sudsiness, this soap did nothing to help my dandruff. I'm going to have to wash my hair a bit earlier than usual this week because my head is so itchy. Unfortunately, there also didn't seem to be a change in the amount of build-up after using the Nag Champa soap.
The strings: After trying two different ways to wash my scalp and seeing no change in the amount of build-up, I've determined it's the strings. The build-up is only visible around the strings. My next step in this experiment will be to cut the string off one or two dreads, and give it a couple of washes to see if the build-up dissipates. The strings are incredibly tight, so there's no way I'm getting a pair of scissors in there, so I think I'm going to try using an exacto knife for a surgical removal. I'm pretty good with an exacto knife, but I am a little worried about cutting too deep.
Knotty Boy shampoo conclusions: Between this shampoo, the ACV rinse and the Nag Champa soap, the Knotty Boy shampoo works the best for dealing with dandruff. I can't wait to wash my scalp with the Knotty Boy stuff again!
