The most important here being: What works for me here may not work for you. I am my own person with my own beliefs and own perceptions of the game, how it works, and what is important to what pieces. Do not let this guide hinder you. Use it more as an introduction to the concept. Take these ideas and make them your own.
Depending on your personal inclinations you may need a physical board instead of a digital one, this is fine, some people are more tactile.
Part one: The pieces
As was said in the intro, these may have different meanings for you than me, but here are my chess meanings.
White is the in control aspects of a piece, usually played by the querent. Black is the out of control aspects of the piece, played by the reader.
Part two. Methods
Pull
Ask a Question, Pull the piece(s) from a bag, box, or other vessel.
Game
This is my personal favorite method. Play the game of chess, moving pieces intuitively, but according to the rules. When your intuition tells you to stop, stop and read the board.
Cast
a combination of pulling pieces and playing the game. Intuitively set the pieces down on the board, and then read the board.
Closing Thoughts
i understand that this is not a comprehensive guide, but a lot of the concepts in chess reading are dependent on either intuition, or knowledge of the game. This post was mainly made in the hopes of introducing this type of reading to a broader audience.
