A sneak peek of the next part of my Vex series.
Vex entered his room and couldn't help but notice the Grunty residing on the mattress, looking timid. Vex stepped over to the bed and plopped down upon it." Think you're a wise guy, eh?! Sneaking around like some lost soul! Care to divulge why you are following me around like a lost puppy?!" The jester winced as he was beset with an agonizing headache, maybe from his current predicament no doubt.
"Forgive me but even though I am unable to fathom what is currently transpiring, your well-being is my top priority. I'm not trying to irk you in any way but I am a female. May I confide in you, my lord?" The Grunty rubbed the back of her head with a gloved hand, looking thoroughly embarrassed.
Vex swung his legs up onto the mattress despite some difficulties and situated himself until he was comfortable. He cast an inquisitive gaze down upon the miniature minion, his demeanor morphing into one of curiosity." Very well. You have piqued my interest. What seems to be on that pea brain of yours? This had better be good, otherwise, you will swiftly learn why my enemies don't last long." He groaned from the discomfort of his raw throat but dismissed it as he awaited an answer from the minion next to him.
"Well, you see sir, I seem to be in quite a pickle. I have been unable to keep any nourishment down for the life of me and these mood swings aren't helping matters any! Excuse me, anyway, are you sure you want to hear? It is, rather uncomfortable for me to say." The Grunty appeared distraught, tears glistening in her eyes before dripping onto the blanket and sheets. The butterflies in her stomach increased in intensity until it felt like she was in a blender.
Vex was taken aback, reaching over to grasp the Grunty's chin with a thumb and forefinger. He was able to discern that they weren't lying so he let his gaze rove over them, eyes burning with annoyance." Out with it! What's the matter?! Cat got your tongue?! Don't make me reconsider keeping you alive!" Vex's fingers elongated into claws, the energy of the Uproar engulfing them, eager to tear and shred flesh.
