Restored from DNA found in amber, this Pokémon exhibited ferocity that was greater than expected. Some casualties resulted.

          EVEN  AS  PIDGEOT  CIRCLES  BLACKTHORN in search of a place to land,  falkner worries that this could be a bad idea.  but,  he reminds himself,  he wouldn’t have flown all the way here to disturb johto’s dragon tamer if it  WEREN’T  an emergency.  even a gym leader must face when a task is too much for them and falkner,  after spending all morning trying to deal with violet’s problem,  has finally resolved to asking for help.

     an agitated aerodactyl has proven too much for him to handle. 

     the report had come in early in the morning.  the townsfolk had complained of a disturbance just outside of the city and falkner,  being the gym leader,  sought out to investigate.  it didn’t take him long to discover a wild aerodactyl harassing the environment,  wild pokémon,  and passing trainers.  falkner almost didn’t believe it ─  such a rare pokémon in the wild?  almost unheard of!  but the problem was, IS,  very real.  falkner could immediately spot a wing injury but wasn’t able to get close.  it’s no surprise given the injury that the aerodactyl had been reacting so ferociously,  but falkner couldn’t just stand by.  not wanting to resort to hurting it further,  falkner decided the best course of action would be to request the assistance of someone who could help ─  a fellow gym leader. 

     aerodactyl isn’t a dragon type,  of course.  but he figured that,  out of everyone near,  she’d have the closest knowledge in taming the rampaging fossil.  the WORST she could do is say no.  or...  falkner hopes he doesn’t appear weak in asking for help.  but pidgeot is finally landing so there’s no going back now.  leaving himself little time to hesitate, falkner walks right in.  it’s quiet.

The presence of Johto’s premiere Dragon-tamer was renowned for being bold, intimidating even. Fortunately, Rustboro’s “rock loving honors student-turned-professor” had garnered a similar reputation for being immovable in the face of adversity or challenge. And the circumstances that brought the two together for this twilight excursion to Kalos’ rural town of Ambrette happened to be close to both of their hearts: just recently, along the jagged coastline, an excavation uncovered a plethora of Tyrunt fossils hidden in the bed of sedimentary rock. It was a discovery unlike any in recent history, a breakthrough for the species itself.

Both leapt at the news - for their own personal reasons, naturally - and thus, the unlikely team was formed.

“It shouldn’t be much further,” Roxanne exhaled with a tone of weariness, reconfirming with her PokeNav the two women's’ coordinates. After what seemed like an entire eight hours (it had been, realistically, an hour and a half), they were finally coming upon their destination. “If I’m to believe correctly, the deposit is at the foot of this cliff, right ahead.” 

Within minutes, the two were face to face with a towering, imposing bed of rock that seemingly reached right into the night sky. Both Roxanne and Clair dipped beneath the cautionary tape (oh, the perks of being Gym Leaders with connections) and began chipping away at the surface of the site, hoping to score a few samples of their very own.

The two worked tirelessly, but with the most cautious of care. She is a lot more meticulous than rumors would lead one to believe, Roxanne pondered, as she worked alongside the other Leader. She smiled slightly, before beginning some small talk, careful not to agitate the other woman while they worked. The feeling in her gut was that of rekindling with an old friend, although the two hadn’t much of a history before this very night.

But before long, the sun had begun rising from the east. Sweaty, worn, and covered in dust and dirt, the two women were almost to their individual limits of exhaustion. Was this entirely fruitless…? Roxanne felt a tinge of disappointment, just as a rousing cry of excitement escaped Clair’s lips. She immediately rushed to see what the Blackthorn beauty had unearthed.
