I'm sorry you have to deal with that. I can assure you that 98% of the people love your stories, but like usual, the minority is always louder. These people are just never satisfied. They should start a new fandom aka "Jonerys for men", where they could all go and leave us. I know it's discouraging but don't let a few people ruin it for you. If I were to start digital drawing, what would you recommend to start with (programs, tools, tutorials, etc)? I'm pretty good at regular drawing on paper, but I lack any kind of info channeling that knowledge into a computer. Since you're my favorite artist on here and I would love an ounce of your talent, I thought I'd ask you :)
D’aww thank you! <3 I’m by no means a master digital artist (pretty mediocre tbh haha) but here’s what i like to use for my art and what i find helpful:
1) Wacom Intuos tablet (Any kind of tablet would suffice… mine is not the most advanced tablet on the market but it gets the job done and it’s very affordable).
2) Paint Tool SAI. The majority of my work is done using this program. It’s easy to use and it makes really nice lines for linework (i downloaded it for free off the pirate bay tbh shhh.… lol). If you end up using this program i would be happy to show you my brush settings that i use for my lineworks ;)
3) Adobe Photoshop (I only use this for finishing touches such as color adjustment and sometimes adding an overlay affect to my drawing.) I do use this but i don’t consider it a necessity. Paint Tool is good enough i find.
4) PINTEREST. Pinterest has tons of tutorials on it for both anatomy and tutorials on other artist’s art process. It’s also really good for getting inspiration for poses.
A general tip I would definitely recommend is: Use references!!! For like… EVERYTHING!!! (trees, arms, legs, flowers, bums, feet, hands, whatever the hell you’re drawing!) Just to be clear using a reference isn’t cheating. It’s fucking necessary. (by reference i mean open up google and analyze pictures of these things) (at least until you’re good enough that you don’t need one) lol.
@dracarysqueen makes the best icons and really pretty edits! She’s also supportive of fic writers and leaves nice comments. A real gift to our fandom =)
