Deltarune is such a tragic game with amazing writing character interpretation. It's intended to make the player feel terrible for playing, specifically in the weird route. It's painful to watch Kris be controlled by us while we hear from Noelle or others about how different Kris was back then. Cause it's rarely Kris that's in control now.
Characters (especially the main characters) have a lot of depth in their backstory, and it really creates a reason why they're who they are now. Like Berdley (idk how to spell his name), his story in chapter 2 about the spelling bee gives so much info about why he does what he does. I think it's so rare to find backstory in characters from other games. But Deltarune is basically built off of every single character's personality. The whole thing about Deltarune is that the player is living and controlling someone else's life. It's supposed to feel real and make the player uncomfortable when they play the weird route or come to terms with the fact they're being a puppeteer. There's supposed to be feeling and emotion from these little characters. And it's tragic when you realize the player is just using them and torturing Kris and their loved ones for their game.
The complexity put into the game is incredible and I really adore it with all my soul. Hehe.
(Seriously though. I love Deltarune)
