Ever noticed those peculiar yellow eartags on some Elite Octolings? They're test-subjects from the Science Division, spearheaded by the brilliant Dr. Neoco. In Dj Octavio's absence, she has thus stepped up to command the army until he returns.
Dr. Neoco named after...?
Neoco was almost called Amphi. But, that would be confusing.
She was named to fit in scheme with Cirra and Argo; who are in turn named after Cirrate Octopods, and Argonatidae Octopods (extinct)
Neoco, Neocoleoidea. I didn't want to use it at first, looking at Amphitretidae, because our League Team in Splatoon 2 is 'The Neocoleoid Army' (or Neo Army for short) - but, Neoco grew on me.
No real deeper meaning, but, sometimes, it's just like that. Freddie is named Freddie because I have an amiibo of the inkling girl named 'Woomifred' ("you can't just name her woomy!") who grew into her own character.
