#dps problems

“More than 30m”

I’m not usually a salty spittoon about this kind of thing, but…

Last night I DF’d Dusk Vigil for my anima. It was going fine, people seemed friendly, WHM was struggling a tiny bit with the DRK’s big pulls in the beginning but eventually got into the rhythm and everything was gravy.

So I’m doing my usual AOE trash burning routine (Fire II repeatedly, Flare, Transpose, repeat) and sometime after the first boss and the DRK hits me with “Don’t bother using Fire II when there’s only two enemies, it’s a dps loss.”

….k, I guess that’s valid. I’m not going to interrupt my cast if one enemy dies leaving me with just 2, though.

I didn’t say anything, I just make a mental note that it will apparently make the DRK happy if I switch to single targets immediately when we’re down to two pieces of trash. No big deal.

But then she says, “And use Bliz 3 and Fire 3 to switch stances”

…..k now we’re getting into unsolicited advice territory a little bit. 

If you’re doing the Flare AOE nuke rotation, you can’t use Bliz 3 to swap into UI because you literally have zero mana after casting Flare. That’s how Flare works. The nice thing is that when you Transpose, the server ticks are forgiving enough that you only have to wait about .5 seconds to get a chunk of mana back and continue your trash burn (you usually get ANOTHER tick during your cast, so you’re basically back to full once your Fire II hits).

So to prove I’m not ignoring her I reply with “ty”

But she doesn’t stop. She continues giving me level 50 BLM tips like she’s doing me this huge favor. I keep my mouth shut and continue burning things down, frequently pulling hate (not out of spite, it was just happening) while Quelling is on CD.

 So here’s where I become a bit of a self righteous salty spittoon: - I checked her search info. She has a BLM to 60, ok, that checks out I guess. But she has not EVEN UNLOCKED GLADIATOR OR MARAUDER and is, as a DRK, giving me advice about my dps. - I checked ACT. Before she said anything about my apparent misuse of Fire II, I was ahead of the MCH (and the rest of the party) by 200 POINTS - After I changed my tune to appease her my dps dropped by about 75…. - The WHM did 12dps overall in the entire dungeon. I did not see a single Holy on the trash packs.
