Yk when people say they absolutely HATE Neil's dad and that?? (Idk if this is purely a Pinterest and Tiktok thing??)

Like when they say he should die and that Neil's death was his fault and so he shouldn't be allowed to feel upset??

Is it just me who finds that as stupid as saying Meeks should take all the blame?? Obviously, you're allowed to hate who you hate, but I mean those people who say "If you don't hate him, you're just a terrible person"

All of the characters in dps are so nuanced and complex. They're well written, with motives and human emotions and desires. Human experiences to guide them through human choices.

Mr Perry's experience was failure. He failed, and now he has a son. He loved his son, as some people seem to believe he didn't, he truly did love him. Like any decent parent would.

Due to this love for his son, he didn't want him to experience this failure. This damaging stain on his life. So he did what he thought was helping him, getting him into medical school; and because Neil never said any different, afraid to displease his father, that's the road that continued.

Even if he did speak up, his father would likely chalk it down to childish dreams, the very thing that caused him to fail. He sees a doctor as someone who brings money and is respected. An actor?? They don't get far. Once you're undesirable, the public is tired. They don't get paid well enough, and they certainly get no respect prancing around a stage like a child.

Mr Perry saw Neil going into acting the same a parent would a toddler trying to stick it's hand into a socket. That's what we're missing.
