personally danny phantom crossover fanfiction is a plague but if *i* was going to do it w/ devil may cry i’d do fusion elements and make the ghost zone “purgatory” or purgatorio or whatever, a dimension in a layer between the human world and the underworld where the spirits of humans (mostly) and demons (sometimes) can remake themselves.
danny phantom takes place in like the early 2000s so roughly around dmc4 i think…?

seeing my davepeta analysis post still get notes every now and then is really nice. hate it when the reblog isn’t there though cause that’s like. Important context! still
What made you ship it?
I think seeing you talk about it made me watch through that lens!! And also their fight scene… hot…
What are your favorite things about the ship?
I particularly love AUs where Kelly is Anaya's other parent!!! That whole setup makes me insane. I also just love the betrayal themes there. Otherwise enemy tension is SO fun, especially with how much Teleya hates humans.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Probably shipping it at all is an unpopular opinion since most Orville fans seem to support Seth's self-insert fantasies of Ed getting to be with women who are too good for him. But like... the show would've been better if Teleya went for Kelly instead lol.
Rita/Laura
What made you ship it?
Significant complex relationships between women are an automatic ship for me, especially since I already loved Rita and thought Laura was gorgeous, and they have so much insane animosity it's great.
And also shit like this
Out of context, that sure is a quote!!!
What are your favorite things about the ship?
The history and betrayal and guilt and hatred and the weird sex potential of the two meanest lesbian shapeshifters alive.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Idk what's popular, but... I hate that their relationship came at the cost of Rita distancing from characters like Larry because of how time passed so weirdly for her? I feel like this could've been done in a different way that still maintained it BUT still shoehorned in the enemies history dynamic timeline-wise. I'd rather it have happened than not, I just could've done it in a more satisfying way lol. I also don't give a fuck about Malcolm, but that's probably a given for other shippers.
Shauna/Jackie
What made you ship it?
That scene where Shauna drops Jackie off and Jackie slow-motion twirls in goodbye? I thought that was canon crush implications lol. And then Shauna fucked Jeff 10 seconds later but hey, still crush implications to that!
What are your favorite things about the ship?
Toxic codependency and tragedy and Jackie haunting Shauna in everything she does forever. Everything Shauna did even before Jackie's death was centered around Jackie, from having things like playing soccer decided for her by Jackie to fucking Jackie's boyfriend out of resentment for being in Jackie's shadow. And I love that in her attempts to get out from that shadow, Shauna doomed herself to literally forge the entire rest of her life around it.
I like to think that if Shauna had ever previously communicated and made it clear that it was important for Jackie to listen to her true thoughts... Jackie maybe would've! I can absolutely see Jackie brushing off minor instances of these things because she is under the impression they are generally on the same page and maybe self-centeredly she thinks that she knows best because that's always been the way and it's always worked out fine! But I really don't think she knew HOW miserable Shauna was? And if she had... I mean, maybe she would've gotten defensive, but in civilization she gave such Family Sitcom Corny Happy Ending Where Everyone Hugs vibes, she would've sorted it out eventually, for better or for worse.
I just really don't think Jackie knew that Shauna felt so trampled over and it sucks that when she did finally learn... it was under fatal circumstances. We'll never know how she would've reacted in a more normal situation, especially without the Jeff context, so now all we can do is wonder and let the memory of her be rewritten by everyone else who knew her in a voiceless echo like Shauna's fucked up mental perception of her ghost lol.
Is there an unpopular opinion you have on your ship?
Idk I intentionally do not keep up with most of the fandom these days, but maybe... that I don't think these two would've ever actually gotten together, or at least not very easily? I also don't really... care... I don't care that they didn't canonly make out. The appeal to me IS the tragedy of it.
So many people seem to hate Shauna/Mel because they think it's damage control for how people are mad Shauna/Jackie didn't happen, when imo Shauna/Jackie wouldn't have happened anyway! Jackie living (or even these two being less repressed!) creates a fundamentally different show and while I absolutely love AUs and trying to figure out how something improbable could happen, I think canon is better for it going the way it did.
I also thought the ambiguity was fine, too. It has been nice getting the extra details and implications about canon Shauna/Jackie feelings, but I would be fine with or without those specifics. And I also don't think the actresses or other cast/crew are homophobic for not intentionally putting those vibes down or perceiving them unprompted.
Idk I just don't view media through the Perfect Gay Representation lens that is so common in fandom these days because that is so very boring to me... which is why... canon toxic fucked up Shauna/Jackie is the whole point to me.....................
Anyway Shauna absolutely fucked Jackie's corpse and I genuinely think people who refuse to entertain that notion are cowards.
