Chapters 44 and 45 of the Oosawa manga are available on SF!
chapter 44 was available for a long time but i didnât notice (welp).Â
In which we finish with Langobalt and Iâm having mixed feelings, but none are about characterisations! So no Lionel here! Instead, carrots.
Chapter 44 first!
Good points : Langobaltâs motivations for fighting/rebelling!
Given how much importance FE4 gives to the âCursader of Lightâ Baldo, why Naga is the ruler of Granvalle (i mean until Seliph comes)? If they based their claim on âonly us can get rid of Loptyr possessed guysâ maybe it means the general population forgot about Loptyr, the reason why Sigurd deems Loptyr shenanigans as âsupersticious nonsenseâ?
Some friends and I discussed about Kurth having no real power in the realm, Naga is only living on past heroic deeds, nowadays theyâre weak.
Carrot point (iâm not too fond of carrots but I donât dislike them) :Â
Danan being a dumb brute to the point Langobalt perfers Lex. Danan is of course the guy who puts slavery in Isaac, he isnât the kindest guy around, still his death quote is something like âsorry Emperor Arvisâ. At least he has loyalties. Even in game Langobalt seemed to diss on Danan but it was on Lexâs level, no favoritism. Danan being portrayed in a very bad light to make Lex shine a bit more is a bit meh to me. Still, even if i can get behind Blume, Dananâs portrayal forces you to understand that he is a tyran/bad guy.
Burnt carrot point : Ayra facing Langobalt. It was bound to happen... But I was happy it had some elements of Isaacâs war and wasnât only centered on âhe is my father in lawâ.
LOLTASTIC POINT : Mananan saying Granvale guys are humans like us and can be discussed with! Rivough guys arenât really humans so they can only understand violence? (and thatâs not even taking into account how Mananan thinks discussing with his in-laws in pointless! You married your daughter to non-humans guys dude!).
Chapter 45 :
Good points : Claude hiding behind a flipped table. Thatâs the kind of detail Iâm fond of!
Carrot point : the battle between Lex/Ayra and Langobalt.
Description of game mechanics is always weird in fanfictions/mangas, I really appreciate how Astraâs portrayed! Like very close strikes you have difficulties to dodge! (better explained than Shanamâs teaching lesson but Mareeta managed to understand so...)
But then, little problem.Â
Langobalt is wielding Helswath, he doesnât give a crap about dodging... Still, how to portray the +20 to def Helswath gives? As if Langobalt cannot be cut or he doesnât feel the pain?
Itâs not a âbad pointâ per se because describing how Holy Weapons work is... weird, and if game mechanics really worked here Langobalt would never have been defeated by Lex/Ayra.
I wonder if the Tyrfing will have super powers shown against Reptor - in the LI manga iirc Ares managed to use his weapon to protect himself against the Mjolnir? Itâd be lame if Sigurdâs Holy Weapon makes him able to fight against Reptor but Langobalt wielding Helswath was defeated after an Astra and an axe blow (maybe it was a critical?).
