Personality

Nancy's a bit of an eccentric. But maybe put a little less emphasis on the a bit.

In her own way, she better reflects her second older brother—Sheryl—than she does her eldest, Marene. Nevertheless, like her brothers and every other Doyle family member that came before them (their mother included), Nancy's rather gifted in most things analytical!

One of the best things about this fact is that she doesn't prefer keeping her skills for her own personal uses only—even if, in most cases, that happens to be the case. She wants to be helpful, she wants to broaden her horizons and spring her potential forwards in any way she can; helping others with her intellectual prowess just happens to be one of them.

Don't be fooled, though, Nancy is not completely well-adjusted and settled in herself in the ways her brothers seem to be. Despite her gifts, its potential can often be held back by Nancy's incessant stubbornness and brash way of thinking… or lack thereof.

She's more of an “act before you think,” kind of person, and that's the shining attribute that's holding her back from reaching her full potential—according to her brothers.

But there's a lead, and there's been leads on where she might have gone. And believe me when I say I will stop at nothing in trying to find her. ✒️ Nancy's relationship with her father is practically non-existent, as the esteemed Mr. Doyle had since went out of frame of the family picture when his wife conceived her.

↳ Perhaps similarly in that regard, Nancy's relationship with both her older brothers is equally as stagnant. That isn't to say the three aren't on speaking terms, they just… grew apart.

✒️ On the off-chance where she isn't scolding him for his leisurely “work-shy” nature, Nancy can occasionally be found lounging around Ignihyde with Marene; reading while her oldest brother lay asleep for one of his regularly unscheduled naps.

✒️ Sebek has a one-sided “beef” with Nancy. For context, basically when she began attending NRC, she skipped out on the sorting orientation ceremony entirely in order to look for her brothers, Marene in particular; in doing so, she ended up encountering Malleus as she scoured the campus halls in search of her brother(s), and asked him for directions to Ignihyde, since that was where she deduced Marene would be. Unfortunately, Sebek ended up witnessing this interaction and believed it to be a disrespect to the high-standing and respect Malleus is expected to receive on the regular—and has since been giving Nancy the stink eye ever since. (She is clueless to this)

✒️ Like all other students in NRC, she misunderstood Nelly and Yuuta's relationship. She thought they were already dating, and since neither of them corrected her on it, her brain just sort of… accepted it as fact even when it really isn't.

✒️ Unlike her brother Arthur, oblivious to the mere existence of the eloquent and elusive Conan Doyle, Nancy is actually somewhat acquainted with Conan! If only for the fact that they're in the same dorm. She's come to trust Conan a lot, and in her head, believed that that trust is mutual.

✒️ Nancy's slightly scared of Victoria, and especially her harsh default scowl.

✒️ When Nancy was a little girl, she would frequently combine pre-existing boardgames together and come up with her own rules so she could have a wider variety to play with her mother, and occasionally her brothers!
