Finally coming out of the dark, the ex-guitarist of the Misfits, Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, started a new project (following the footsteps of Danzig by naming his project, Doyle). I guess you could call Doyle a super group, consisting of Alex "Wolfman" Story from Cancerslug, Left Hand Graham, a well respected member of the New Jersey punk scene, and has now had two well known drummers- Dr. Chud from the Misfits, and his replacement Tiny from T.S.O.L
The album Abominator was released in 2013. If i had to label their sound, i would call them a horror influenced metal band with alittle bit of punk. They have a misfits mixed with Danzig's solo work, feel. Though ive heard alot negative things about Wolfman's vocals, i think he is a perfect fit, with how heavy his vocals can be but he has also very melodic voice. The album is 43 1/2 minutes. 1. Abominator 2. Learn to Bleed 3. Dreamingdeadgirls 4. Head hunter 5. Valley of the shadows 6. Land of the Dead 7. Cemetery sexxx 8. Love like murder 9. Mark of the beast 10. Blood stains 11. Hope hell is warm Of course starting out with "Abominator", it instantly pulls you in with how catchy it is, even with that, its still one of the heaviest songs on the album. "Learn to bleed" is straight up metal song with a punk attitude. "Dreamingdeadgirls" was my favorite on the whole album! It's heavy as fuck but the lyrics are more horror punk, "What turns me on the most, is a girl without a pulse. I don't need no heartbeat beating inside, an empty chest is enough. What goes on in her mind, when her mind has rotted away. I don't need no one to tell me its love, when the flesh begins to decay." "Head hunter" is a straight forward Misfits influenced song. "Valley of the shadows" is similar to Abominator with how catchy it is. "Land of the dead" is where you can really hear their metal roots coming out. To me this is the one song where its just straight metal, no horror influence (well, the music atleast, Alex's lyrics always have alittle bit of horror influence). "Cemetery sexxx" screams Danzig era Misfits, just like, "Love like murder". In my opinion, "Mark of the beast" reminded me of a Rob Zombie song. The album seems to be slowing down when "Bloodstains" comes on, and with that, "Hope hell is warm" comes to end the album.
