I think the “love each other” was created with good intentions and not with the purpose of distance, but it’s meaning has been changing over the years, slowly. It would be cool if they did address some of these things.
My guess is they have found it’s healthier for themselves not to be too involved in everything that’s said in the fandom, and also it’s scary to say the wrong thing in the internet. I would like for a little more engagement when these disputes happen, even if it takes them a while to come up with a reply they’re happy and comfortable with. On the other side, I know it’s really complicated and I can’t hold it against them for mental health reasons; but yeah, it would be nice, even little clarifications on Talks or something like that.

i don’t expect them to respond as people with twitter accounts, i would want them to respond as the makers of a show that makes money off its audience and wants to believe it has deep (or at least consistent) character exploration and decision making. they literally even have a platform for that exact purpose that they built. once again this doesn’t even get into the content warning, which i find to be one of their more egregious things, and to which they literally copy pasted a vague statement from 2018 on their site. that was really my final straw, and just. epitomizes their engagement i think. unresponsive beyond vagueness and repetition, no matter the circumstance.
there’s this idea that people continue to have that this show is Just Them, and it’s getting deeply tiring. a tiny show of people who Just Get Things Wrong Sometimes Heart Emoji doesn’t get deals with amazon or break kickstarter records. at the very least, they should have an Active pr person, and yet it’s just pure radio silence and really seemingly fake statements on even the sensitivity consultant part. it’s an increasingly popular sentiment from podcasts and it just. baffles me.
