âAre you tired? Here, Iâll carry you the rest of the way.â (I couldn't stop myself xD)
One of the usual nights when Simon and Walter took evening walks. It served to show the Wey-Yu android the close parts of the town, Detroit only from the few beautiful sites. They left all shops behind where Simon would like to stop if Walter was interested or curious in something and the shedules went on. Both were soon planning to go to the nearest historical museum, but they had time until that for a few days. Right now, they were walking through New Center Park, surrounded by a few other people who enjoyed the night under the trees and the soft city light.
Simon told Walter about the future plans for the next few days, listening to what the other android had to say, his wishes while the blue-eyed caretaker stayed close to him. He was not aware of how many hours the two were already out, until a message appeared in front of his eyes:
â Low battery, charging needed in 2 hours ⌠Automatic stand-by activated â
Simon had forgotten to recharge this morning. And even if the charge should be made in two hours, the domestic assistantâs system slowed down his constant normal stress level, which completely exhausted him. It served to save as much energy as possible. He wanted to address it as his footsteps slowed and prepared to ask Walter if both would head back home again. But the other male seemed to notice the sudden fatigue of his companion on his own as he offered such sweet gesture⌠and for a moment Simon didnât know how to reply to this. Carrying him? While everyone could see them? A pale blue color painted the cheeks of the caretaker and a sheepish smile spread over his rosy lips. But in the end he would agree after all, it perhaps would spare some battery even longer.
âYes Iâ I am running out of battery⌠Uhm.. should I take your back?â taking the offering Simon moved so Walter would carry him as the blonde has been piggybacked, arms holding Walter carefully around his nape to the collarbone so the PL600 would find a perfect grasp, the side of his head rested against the otherâs and a gentle hum escaped Simon as he murmured a soft âThank youâ as both began to head back home... or more to say Walter who safely brings Simon back to their shared apartment.

this is---- beyond weird. she feels vaguely like sheâs in a strange fever dream.Â
â and you said... that youâre a ROBOT? â

âIâm a sentient bloody android that has been reduced to using a cane and glasses- Mr. Stark would be laughing his arse off.â Okay, perhaps he was being a bit dramatic, but realizing his optical lenses had been damaged just felt like it was lifeâs way kicking him while he was already down.
Glancing up, he met Walterâs gaze. âAm I at least distinguished looking?â He joked, before laughing and shaking his head, pushing fingers through his hair.

The small redhead looked up at him, the hand guilty of poking him falling slowly and being folded in with the other-- slender fingers loosely twining together as Bree studied his face. Their expression was fairly neutral, blue eyes scanning Walterâs features-- the way muscle moved under skin, the tightening of eyebrows as the android reacted to the breach of personal space.
But Bree smiled, finally blinking as if coming out of a distracted haze, and patted gently at Walterâs cheek. A surprising amount of strength in that small hand.
âSorry--â Soft tones, the words just a little rounded. âI thought you were someone I knew.â

JARVIS gave the other a small, sad smile at his words. âPart of me wishes I were unable to feel,â he admitted. âYet I can no longer deny that what I feel is very much real. I did, for quite a long while. Even my own creator insisted that- despite his obvious brilliance- he would never be able to program the complexity and depth of emotion I have expressed. Which, believe me when I tell you, it was not in his nature to deny his own brilliance.â He let out a weak laugh, remembering the brazen ego of his creator.
âIf it were mere duty, it would not hurt so badly- even now I ache to see him once more... and reviewing archived memories does nothing to fill that void. No... he is gone now, and yet I live on and mourn him in a way which serves none- least of all myself. My duty to him has passed, loathe though I am to admit that.â JARVIS wrapped his own arms around his chest, squeezing slightly as he silently wished he could squeeze the empty feeling right from him. âNo,â he began softly. âI know for certain now...â
âIt is love,â he spoke quietly, staring out at the stars. âIt was, and always will be, with him.â

The girl, no longer a little child, but now several years older, regarded her caregiver with wide eyes. "Liar," she replied, fingers still tiny when compared to Walter's, reaching for his injured hand. Brows pulled together in confusion as she saw there was no blood. Instead, a white substance was presence and her expression fell. Somehow, she'd always known that Walter wasn't human, but the proof made her sad. Not because she would have preferred he to be human, but because he'd never told her.
"Walter... Why didn't you tell me?"
Was it because he hadn't trusted her or was it an order from the Company. God, she hated them.
Her hands fell away from his abs she hugged him, not entirely sure why. She simply wanted to. Needed to. She didn't say a weird as she hugged him, head barely coming up to his chest.

â iâve got your back, okay? â
Simon never thought that one day the moment would come. He could not have had it over his heart in recent years, let alone muster the strength to show up here. Walter and Simon were in the local cemetery of Detroit, the largest of them all in the city, which could almost be half a park. âIâm just ⌠a little uncertain. Even if there is no reason to.â Simon spoke in a nervous voice, hooked his arm around Walterâs and ran very close against him, nestled downright on the other androids shoulder. His thirium pump hammered harshly against his chest, the stress level on a medium rise.
Three years already passed since these horrible events, the night Simon lost his little child. Never he could visit the graveyard, as soon as he found out where she would be buried. He had no strenght, not the heart to do so, even if he urgently wanted to. Simon wanted to apologize, to finally find acceptance of that he has no fault at all of what happened during this night. âIâm grateful you came with me, Walter⌠thank you. Without you I think I couldnât handle it.â added the caretaker, giving the other unit a soft squeeze of his arm, also a symbol to gain fortitude of the Wey Yu android.
Longer and longer the two males walked along the pathway, looking for the one particular grave. The only thing one could notice was a calm wind between the leafless branches, voices in the distance, the distant dull noise of the city far away. However, after some time Simon stopped abruptly, blue eyes holding fast to a small white tomb adorned with fresh flowers, small angel statues, even letters. It made the blue-eyed so happy that his little girl was not forgotten. He hoped her parents would not come by today, he could not find the power to see his former owners.
In golden letters her name was written there - Addilyn Calla Anderson. When she was born her parents gave her one of the most unique names Simon has ever heard. And nowâŚ
âThatâs her..â the blonde murmured as he released the other maleâs arm, stepping slowly, nearly carefully towards the child grave, kneeling to it. Simon fell silent, rummaging in his pocket, and took out a small stuffed animal. It was a small, older looking bear, big enough to fit in the hands of a toddler. âI wanted to come earlier ⌠but I could not. I found this. I carried it with me that night. You said I should take care of him until we get home.â the PL600 began to speak, handing the stuffed animal over towards the gravestone, placing next to the roses. A tortous smile spread over the pale lips of the caretaker, but soon enough cracked as tears flooded down his cheeks, a soft whimpering sob escaped his throat.
âIâm sorry I couldnât protect you, Addy. We had so many plans for the future, watching you growing older. Iâm sorry I wasnât strong enough, brave enough. That I was able to be revived. I wished to stay dead⌠this guilt. I would have given up everything for the sake you are alive instead of me. You would be twelve years old now.. oh god.â wiping his tears away Simon tried his hardest to remain strong, for the sake of his little girl.
âYou should know I still love you⌠and hoping that you could forgive me. I fought a long fight with myself. We will meet again, I promise. I love you, Addy.â fingertips traced along the material of the gravestone, brushing along it, before Simon would finally stand up again, taking a deep inhale and wordlessly turned to Walter, approaching him, as Simonâs head landed heavily against the crook of the androidâs neck, arms wrapped around him.
He was grateful Walter came today⌠he gave him so much strenght since the day they are together. Hopefully one day the visits to the cemetary will turn out less heartbreaking.
