The REGs' problem with taking criticism, besides their obsession with winning at all costs, is that they always conflate behavior with identity. You either are a good person/thing or the scum of the earth; there's no such thing as good or bad actions, or the ability to do a mix of both. Saying that one group has actions or characteristics in common with another group must mean you think they are the same group; it is impossible for two distinct groups to share any characteristic or behavior more specific than being made of people. Someone pretending to be a child must actually be considered a real child. Someone does not have sex must be the same as someone who identifies as asexual. Creating a fictional depiction of a thing is the same as doing it or it happening in real life. Identifying as anti-terf means one cannot possibly hold any of that ideology because the identification means that doing actions identical to the ones that one identifies as disavowing is now a legit form of disavowal. It all makes sense now.
