This is just speculation but my personal favourite headcanon i have for dottore/zandik is that growing up, he was raised by *conditional love*, an unfortunate culture which is very much alive in south asia and other asian and middle eastern countries (these countries were also a heavy inspiration for sumerus overall culture and design, the birth region of zandik as confirmed by ingame lore). Zandik, who ever he was raised by (no ingame confirmations of parents or guardians, again just speculation) was acustomed to being loved if he was capable at a certain thing. now im not sure what it could be, studies? building? mechanisms? But whatsoever the way dottore has shown interest or cared for a person is when they can be of use. CONFIRMED in game by Columbina is that dottore himself saw her as a "younger sister" but she had realized that just like her previous places, he ws just using her capablities of controlling kuvaki. So i cant help but empathise dottore as my own parents have shown me love everytime i get good grades or am their "perfect submissive daughter". This hc causes me real comfort.
