Here we are, our daughter Olive ! She has the surname of Orion as a nod to the site I got the Abandonware from way back when (ikyk). I forgot that the Abandonware has its own (unfinished) zodiac. Some star signs are unique to this version (Barbarus = Capricorn). I really like that element; it reminds me of Pokémon Black/White. I like the Abandonware font a lot better than the generic fonts of Refine/Regen. It feels more immersive for a quasi medieval setting. I also very much prefer how the Abandonware describes her as "Well-behaved." It sounds less authoritarian than "Obedient," like Refine/Regen. Not a fan of the way the Refine (Steam)/Regen (Switch) stat menus crop out part of her face. Some other differences I noticed:
Abandonware allows for 16 characters per name, while Refine/Regen only give 8
Regen allows for a leap year birthday, while Abandonware/Refine do not
The opening translations don't differ much, aside from word arrangement and flavor text. Regen/Refine address the player as Hero/Warrior vs Abandonware, which uses the player's chosen surname.
Because my PM2 Regen is on console, I edited the Abandonware/Refine save games to match Regen!Olive's physical stats as closely as possible. These play-throughs will not be identical (simply because the game itself incorporates chance encounters), but I'd like to keep them as similar as possible.
