Don’t you dare be looking at this before you’re break time is over!!
Ok so idea… Dori!Mc with drum roll please… Eleazar.
Now Dori!Mc had a shitty childhood on Earth. They were poor, their family pinched pennies, they went to bed hungry more nights than not. They were an only child and their parents didn’t help, in fact they were greedy and selfish and didn’t give MC anything, not food or water or anything at all that would ever help the child.
Their parents died and for a time she was doing better. They were taken in by an orphanage, it was a well off orphanage. They played Genshin Impact there and frankly adored it, the child hoarded and scavenged as much as they could in the game. But peace did not last and the orphanage was shut down.
The children were left homeless and MC scavenged for them, went to bed hungry for them, fought for them. They did everything for the children.
But Winter is a cruel season.
MC died, cold, starving, only 13.
They were now Dori!Mc and she would seize this life. She hated that she was given a knew life and the other children weren’t. She hated it, and so she made sure no other child went through what she did.
She schemes and fought and played dirty. She made a deal with the Jinni, becoming one of their own. She became friends with the desert dwellers and the forest scholars. She belonged to no faction or group, only herself.
She was three when she discovered it. She had Eleazar…
Her illness was bad, but she moved through life just fine. She had lived and died once before, she had starved and froze and fought, she could do it again.
Everyone else knew her as the greedy merchant, the one that did everything for money and put things at an exorbitant price. She was the person you could get anything from and would never give a single mora.
But… she wasn’t like that. She was generous, to children, to the unfortunate, to everyone even if they may not see it. She barely had any mora, most of it actually went to orphanages and medical places and the unfortunate and those who lived in the desert via anonymous donations.
She put lots of money into researching Eleazar, but not for herself, no no no, but for others who had it, for Collei and Dunyazard.
The Jinni were worried for her and called her one of their own so she was considered their child and as such the Jinni was/were all very distressed.
What’s worse… they remember every single Samsara loop and because of the loops, they often are in pain. She has the same business as canon Dori, same ways and everything.
Then Traveler arrives and she hides the blood in her throat, the scales on her skin, the way her lungs struggled for breath, and her true nature.
The the Samsara loop happens and she gets even worse. In fact, she gets so bad that when Alhaitham finds her and is trying to negotiate with her, she actually collapses…
She isn’t an adult either, nor a teen, not like canon Dori anyway. She… she was 9… just a kid, yet she was utterly alone and everyone thinks she’s a short teen.
She collapses and Alhaitham is utterly panicked and confused, but then the day restarts and she hides better and does better in hiding her pain and illness. She is just as bad if not worse than Dunyazard was but she hid and moved and schemed.
No one expressed the greedy merchant to be sick, to be giving mora under anonymous donations, to be soft and kind, to be actively dying yet trying to fight against it. Dori!Mc understands how the world works, so she acts and hides.
She is tired but she keeps living because the more money she makes means the more people she helps who don’t go hungry at night or freeze in the winter. She sponsors orphanages too.
No one knows her age, her illness, her true personality, none of it. Anyone who does… well they forget because they only discovered it in a Samsara loop. All the loops make her illness so much worse.
Ah… she doesn’t know how much time she has left… not long if she had to wager a guess. Not even Nahida knows the truth.
She remembers to greater lord, the original Dendro Archon, even if everyone else doesn’t. She remembers just like Traveler yet she says nothing.
So she helps and schemes and sets prices incredibly high. No one shall know or even get an idea.
Who would expect the local greedy merchant to actually be kind and soft and so very generous. Who would expect the insufferable, short swindler to be sick and dying of Eleazar. No one, and she will never tell nor hint at it. Never.
She is tired, her body aches, she tastes blood in her throat and on her tongue, her lungs struggle for air, every movement causes pain, her head is heavy, her body covered in scales that she keeps hidden under clothes. She wears more clothes than canon Dori!Mc, doesn’t feel comfortable wearing canon Dori’s clothes and besides, baggy and more covering clothes do wonders to hide her skin.
No one shall know her truth, perhaps they will never know until she is dead, maybe they won’t even know after she is dead. Oh well, so long as no one else goes through what she did. That is her mission after all, making sure no one has to go through what she did, it’s her only reason for living…
So she puts on a smile, hides the blood, hides the scales, hides it all, and she acts, acts greedy, acts dramatic. She is quiet and sneaky, and she uses it to her advantage.
The desert is doing better because of her, so are the children and the poor and the unfortunate and everyone really. They are all doing better because of her yet they don’t know it, but that’s ok. She smiles despite the pain and exhaustion because smiling keeps people less suspicious.
Alhaitham will never realize anything is wrong, the Samsaras don’t let anyone remember the previous loops unless they are blessed by Dendro like Paimon and Traveler were. The Sumeru citizens won’t realize anything is wrong because to them the greedy merchant is just that, a greedy merchant. Traveler and Paimon don’t know anything is wrong because their first impressions stick and why should they look closer into someone who clearly only wants Mora. Nahida doesn’t know anything is wrong because she doesn’t peer into Dori!Mc’s mind and she thinks Dori!Mc’s personality is the true one that she doesn’t care to hide.
They could never be more wrong but Dori!Mc just sighs and smiles because their thoughts only make her goal easier. No one suspects her and that means she can continue helping everyone, even if it makes her illness worse. It is incurable… and it cannot be alleviated…
But oh well, she has no regrets and she has accepted her death for she had lived and died once before, she has lived again and she is not afraid of death. Why would you be afraid of death if you’ve died before?
So what if she dies one day, what if she never even reaches her double digits, so long as no one is starving and cold.
So when the day comes and she can no longer move, when she can’t breathe and blood wells in her throat and escapes her mouth, when her body is covered by scales… she will accept her death and greet it like an old friend
I hope this makes sense and that I wasn’t repeating myself too much! I hope you liked it and that you have an amazing break! You better not respond to this until your break time is over, I have very… persuasive, measures in making sure you take a proper break :)
This wasn't what I expected to come back to, but ok... oh god, Dori!MC...
Please at least tell me someone, anyone, hell, maybe her Jinni friend just snaps and lets it know that something was wrong with their master?!

At this rate, the only way anyone will noticed that things aren't right is after the Samsara ends... and Dori!MC is just lying there, practically almost dead on the ground... her clothes barely hid her Eleazar now...
...Is it also bad that if she does end up dying, I think she should, I don't know... maybe turn into a Jinni herself? Like her close bond with her Jinni saves her that way... now no one or anything can take THEIR child away from them now.
Especially those that refused to look underneath Dori!MC's mask...
