So, I got back into dwarf fortress.
So-called "experts" say you shouldn't attempt to swim across the entire ocean in full iron armor with minimal swimming experience and no knowledge of what awaits on the other side, even if you tell them "but through literally weeks of training and the blessing of undeath I don't get tired easily" but what do they even know
Dwarf fortress really is great because I discover new and self-defeating techniques all the time.
For instance apparently the procedurally generated intelligent undead types that can be created by necromancers are both magic (can cast spells of their own, I vaguely knew this) and inherit the allegiances and grudges they had in life. (This I was unaware of)
Anyway the point is you can't just strangle a guy and raise them as smart undead because they'll remember you strangled them and try to kill you. (You'd think they'd be more grateful, they get to be a deathless creature and keep large parts of their past life, and get magic. No downside really.) It also happens that the ones attached to the spell my adventure mode player got turn invisible, throw ice blades, and are strong enough to consistently shatter bone through armor with their bare hands.
So you know. It ultimately worked out fine and there were no issues aside from for at least a while my necromancer has only one functioning leg due to a shattered ankle.
