Hey, I just noticed the ask game. You might call me crazy - you will - but what about me asking you all 43 questions because I'm a curious little shit? 👀
OKAY! [me cracking my knuckles] HERE WE GO
1. first song that comes to mind:
my judgement day by russ ballard(starting to think this is one of my top favorite songs ever)
2. song you would impress a potential mate with:
ummmmmmmmmmmmmm i don't think i would try. i mean i'll get very excited about it if i play music and somebody points it out and they like it, but that's kind of like a "if they like it, they like it. if they don't, they don't" kind of thing. it's what i'm listening to regardless, not to impress anybody. i do get super sad if somebody points out a song i love and they say they don't like it though, like that's actually sent me into emotional spirals before and everything(due to the childhood) but there's nothing in particular i would play to impress anybody. be impressed by my ability to listen to only one artist for a year and not get sick of them, i don't know.
3. song that sounds better in the car:
i have not listened to my favorite music in a car in SO LONG, our cd player in it broke. but i FEEL like dream on by russ ballard would be amazing with a good setup in a car.
4. song that you cried to in middle school:
i did not have middle school. and i can't really remember much of my life around that age range i think. unless i do but just never associated the memories with what age i was. which happens a lot. i don't know. i don't think i cried much about anything around then either, i rarely ever cried for most of my life.
5. song that you like from a genre that you really hate:
i don't hate any genres. one genre can be so big, like. how would i ever know if i hate a WHOLE ENTIRE genre? there's bound to be something from it that i like. a subgenre under it or something. i can't even think of anything to answer this one with.
6. least favorite song by your favorite band or artist:
my least favorite from argent is probablyyyy christmas for the free. it's a nice song, but i have NEVER been in the mood to listen to it. every time it came on my playlist, i'd be like "okay this is nice but it's.. just not the mood." and now i don't have it in my playlist at all anymore. especially with it being on the in deep album, it feels like it's out of place there or something. to me, at least. a super slow christmas song right in the middle of it. and after be glad?? with russ singing/screaming "be glAAAAAAAAAAAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAAAAAAAAAD!!!!!" like that?? okay yes, that song has a short slower bit in the middle too before picking back up again but. i am sorry, beautiful argent boys, but in my brain, it feels like that song just doesn't go there. ANyway
7. song you would have played at your funeral
well. i could say time, but maybe that would be too much. for like. if people are grieving. yeah that would probably- i'll take that back, maybe i'll go with.. oh no help i keep thinking of more that would maybe not be the best choice. gonna meet my maker?? no i can't. omg no i can't lauhg, NO IT'S NOT FUNYN. sdhgfsgsdg how about fly away. that doesn't really fit either. i don't know. i have nothing. i have no funeral song. i don't want a funeral anyway.
8. song you loved as a child:
as a child. well. sweet comes to mind. i also liked peter paul and mary but i remember almost none of their songs i used to listen to. i'll go with sweet, they were my first ever band obsession. i used to listen to a cassette tape of them repeatedly all day long, or for as long as i was allowed. which song am i even supposed to choose, i used to listen to all of them from that cassette about equally. i'll put hell raiser, i do love that song.
9. favorite classic dad rock song:
all of it. every of it. all dad rock songs. that's my taste anyway. this is just asking me my favorite song because that's most of what i listen to. i don't have a single favorite song. i think argent would qualify as dad rock. i'll go with liar.
10. song with a number in the title:
two silhouettes. or i could say 2 silhouettes if that makes it more numbery.
11. song that you're embarrassed about liking:
i am not embarrassed about liking anything, i never will be. if anybody has a problem with me liking something, then that's their own problem to work through, not mine.
12. song you like that gets radio play:
hold your head up by argent
13. favorite breakup song:
this depends on the situation and who is breaking up with who. am i the one breaking up or am i the one that was broken up with? was it a well-handled breakup or was it a disaster? did they betray my trust or was it just not working out, drifting apart or something? i have a lot to choose from, so depending on context, my favorite one would probably change to fit what happened in the hypothetical situation, but for now i'll go with it's too late
14. favorite love song:
love song. but this doesn't specify what KIND of love song. liiiiike, russ's love song to music itself!! the fire still burns. if not that, i could go with a woman like you
15. song that reminds you of spring:
something about venus shine your light gives me a spring kind of vibe. like sitting outside in the cold spring air, but it's not too cold because it's just starting to warm up, just looking at the stars and things, thinking thoughts.
16. song that reminds you of summer:
i am the dance of ages by argent. "spray with each burning day" yeah that's kind of a good summer lyric.
17. song that reminds you of fall:
born on halloween!!
18. song that reminds you of winter:
this is a tough one, but maybe living without you. because the way it sounds is like how i feel sometimes in winter. the music itself feels like that tired, no energy, sad, empty, kind of hopeless feeling. also like time slows way down and makes minutes feel like hours. that's the feeling captured in this song to me.
19. song that reminds you of home:
i answered this one in the other post, but i'll go with a different song this time. cast the spirit makes me think of home, where i currently live, because most of the time i'm out somewhere and can't wait to get home and relax, i always think of that song. or my judgement day, or fly away, or venus shine your light, etc. those are some of my "i'm home now and can relax and calm down" songs. but cast the spirit is one that i listen to when i'm feeling depressed. sometimes it feels like that's the only song i can listen to without losing my mind and possibly going into a panic. it helps me get some of the feelings out too, especially since that's literally what he's saying. "if it's in your tears then let it drown" that's what i do.
20. a song your parents or a family member showed you:
i don't know why, i don't wanna answer this one. i feel like there's something in my head preventing me. it's another one of those "trying to put the wrong sides of magnets together" feelings when i try to think about it. that should probably be looked into.
21. a really goofy song:
there are probably goofier songs out there, but i'll throw are you cuckoo here
22. song you would choose for your wedding dance:
you can count on me, maybe. just the sound of it sounds very wedding-song-like. the lyrics don't QUITE match up with a wedding though but a cute song regardless. a friend love song. which is even cuter thinking of how he's so quick to tell his friends that he loves them all the time.
23. favorite song from 70s:
i have TOO MANY. i'll go with gonna meet my maker because it was the first one that popped into mind.
24. favorite song from 80s:
again, TOO MANY. i'll go with dream on because it was the first one that popped into mind.
25. favorite song from 90s:
again, TOO MANY. help. house of fools
26. favorite song from 00's:
OH NO THE ERA OF MY FAVORITE ALBUM, HOW WILL I EVER CHOOOOOOOSE!!!!! i'll go with just like me (or crazy world or in the dark or this is not a love song or in my darkest hour or it's my life or i'm not made for this world or in to the light or book of love or-)
27. favorite pop song:
ummmmmmmmm. help me figure out what qualifies as pop. people always say since you been gone sounds poppy, especially in comparison to rainbow's version.
28. song by an artist from your region:
i do not know. ummm. suzi quatro was born in my state. how about devil gate drive
29. song you used to love, NOT anymore:
i can't really think of any?? i mean. okay, when i was younger, i remember having a three doors down cd and i didn't have much else to listen to, so i used to listen to that. but then, their songs were SO overplayed on the radio, i got very sick of them. i still don't dislike them but i sometimes feel like if certain songs come on the car radio, i might rip it out of the dash. and same with a couple of guns n roses songs actually, because some of those, i've heard sO much. like. it's good music. yes. but i just. can't. anymore. [me who has been listening to my same playlist for a year straight and still not sick of russ] i'm normal.
30. song you wish you could make somebody listen to who isn't in your life anymore:
i was gonna put one, but actually, no. i'm done thinking like that. instead i'll listen to i can't hear you no more, for myself.
31. most emotional song you can think of:
either a song for gail or i don't believe in miracles.
32. song that used to be you and somebody's "song":
i don't think i've really had anything like this before.
33. extremely underground song, that probably nobody's heard:
NOBODY? well. i don't think i could find one THAT underground. but also hardly anybody seems to know russ either so like. okay i'll go with the ghost inside
34. song with an amazing music video:
i did love the action-movie-cheesiness of the official voices music video. but also i love the video for two silhouettes where it's like an episode of the twilight zone. there's TWO of him. imagine. my brain would short-circuit.
35. song that you listen to when you need to relax:
oh i already kind of covered that up further. well okay, some other ones are blue for you and barenaked. the soft ones are always my relax songs.
36. song that you think changed your life in some way:
oh god. you mean like russ's entire discography? okay let's see. well, dream on started it. kind of. actually, listening to russ's interviews and things started it, but this song would NOT get out of my head once i started listening to his solo music. kept me up for at least half the night and everything like "i have to do something, something needs to change, my life could be better" and then more and more of his songs started doing that to me as i listened. from then on, i've been keeping to that thought. things do need to change and i won't stop trying. "if you know what you want and you know how to get it, don't let any man let you forget it. if you know what you need, you won't regret it. dream on" yes exactlyyYYYYYY.
37. song with a lyric you think about often, would maybe get it as a tattoo:
i also answered this one in the other post, which was in to the light, but i'll talk about a different song for this one now too. book of love. THIS song. instantly starts out with "you must be a light to yourself and to be a light to yourself, you must deny every other light, however great that light be" i meaaaaaaaaan?? i love that? and then "i was in a book of love. it had no hero, no bad one. because you don't know love at all, you became the sad one. you've been searching all your life, still you don't see. take a look inside yourself, it's there the book will be". for this song, if i were to get a tattoo, i think i would want something right where my heart is. and i would want it to just look like a beam of light shining out. somehow. also on my back, still where my heart is, so it's like clean through. light shining out of both sides. because in the song when you sleep, the voice says "when you open the book, the great light will be shining". i think there's so much that could be done with his songs.
38. song you like in a language that is not your native language:
la bamba by ritchie valens!!
39. song that is musically technical (difficult to play):
i do not know enough about anything.
40. song you listen to while inebriated:
i don't often drink and when i do, it's not a whole lot, not enough to be actually drunk. i can't physically make myself get that much down. i don't think my listening habits would be different.
41. song that AMAZES you :) :
amAZES me. in what way?? there's probably lots. can i just say on the rebound because his voice makes me feel like melting into a boiling puddle?
42. if the world was ending and you had the ability and time to just play one song, what song would that be:
sleep won't help me by argent. for some reason. it feels right.
43. song that gets you energized! when you need to get a chore done:
i answered this one too before and i think i'd answer the same still. probably. bad boy or ain't no turning back. probably that whole barnet dogs album, actually. it's veryyyyy energetic and rocky.
