"No me interesa saber que has hecho con ese tío. Lo que quiero saber es qué estás haciendo conmigo"
Just started Donna! on Netflix
Starting a new K-Drama always feels a little like dating. You just finished spending 16 hours emotionally attached to one set of characters, and suddenly you’re expected to invest in a whole new group of strangers. It’s exhausting.
So here I am, 12 minutes into the first episode of Doona! and all this woman has done is smoke and irritate me.
Like… girl. Please. I am trying to root for you and you are making it very difficult.
Then the smoking literally costs him his job and now I’m even more annoyed because WHY are we sabotaging this man already??
But then… things start getting a little sweeter.
And I’m realizing who she actually is and suddenly I don’t completely hate her anymore. Which is dangerous. Because now I’m invested.
I swear the first episode of almost every K-drama I’ve watched has been rocky. There’s always that moment where you’re like “do I actually like this show or am I just confused right now?”
So I already know I’m probably going to circle back and rewatch episode one later once I understand the characters more. K-dramas have a way of making the first episode make more sense once you’re emotionally trapped.
But the chemistry is there. The plot threads are there.
So against my better judgment… we are venturing into episode two.
