What easily-rememberable hand gesture should I use for "Gwyn, go pee?" I usually use a pointing finger, swerving horizontally away from ny chest. But I find I am using that without thinking to encourage her to look for balls when she's not sure where it is or if I threw it.
She seems better with hand gestures than words, so I have to come up with a new one for "go pee."
I think you should go for the full on buttler "come right this way" bow!

Does Lady do Sniff Patrols, or is she developing more reliance on watching/listening, or perhaps parking herself in one spot and monitoring the scents/sights/sounds from there?
My best analogue is a horse taking a turn at sentry duty, and I'm curious how different it is for a dog.
You know, she has started out really relying on her nose as a puppy, but as she is getting older, and at barely 6 months I have to remind myself that she still has sooooo much maturing to go and will likely change even more, she is really starting to use her eyes and ears more! My husband has reported that the past few mornings, when he leaves for work early, she comes running in from the back of the horse pastures. So she has started doing her own rounds too as soon as there is a little light. She still has not barked in response to any "threats," she seems to understand that the fence is there and as long as the coyotes stay on the other side, they get a free pass. Which, for me, is perfect! I'm so glad she hasn't been constantly barking like so many other LGDs are allowed to do, I feel at that point they just become white noise to any predators and just annoy everyone else.
