I am the Sour Truth
I feel like people love Alice in Wonderland, much like I do, but for different reasons. And I get everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but I don’t think anyone sees Alice in Wonderland the way I do. I think most people see Alice in Wonderland as a cute children’s story that was colorful and unique, and it was, but it was more than that. ( Now please keep in mind I’m talking about the Disney version ) Alice fell asleep, and she had a dream that started out to be a pretty scary dream in disguise of a decent dream. The first problem she encounters is the locked door, and she is too large to fit through. The door itself is a sad dream all in its own. Sure she gets out and eventually gets stuck in a house, and the house is almost BURNT DOWN WITH HER IN IT! She would have been burned alive if she didn’t eat the carrot from the White Rabbit’s garden. Eventually she runs into two men and their door mouse that are mad. These men are so different and mad that Alice isn’t even able to finish her story that she is trying to tell them so they can help her. They still probably wouldn’t have been much help, but she couldn’t get through a simple story. Next she meets a bunch of talking flowers whom are very hospitable and sing for her and later figure out that she is not a flower ( NO DUH ) and quite literally wash her away. Afterwards she meets a caterpillar who smokes ( Let’s be perfectly honest here. The caterpillar was high ) and he wants to know who she is. After all she’d been through how could she know who she was anymore? As if this dream hadn’t been upsetting enough for Alice she eventually gets lost and is so upset and scared she realizes how much trouble she’s in. she’s gotten lost. She’s essentially gotten lost in her own mind. Sure the Cheshire Cat comes and shows her the way to the Queen but this same cat ends up pulling the Queen’s dress up showing everyone her undergarments. Naturally, the flake that the Cheshire Cat is, he disappears, placing the blame squarely on Alice’s shoulders. Alice then gets in so much trouble and realizes that hew whole mishap was a dream. The movie then plays it off as though it was just a silly dream when this was a detailed and twisted nightmare. I guess people don’t see Alice in Wonderland the way I do because they don’t have nightmares that are this detailed. I guess people don’t see Alice in Wonderland the way I do because most people don’t feel like they’re Alice. Everything started as an adventure, and she fell down a rabbit hold. Everything was in her head. Everything bad she had created, but she couldn’t control it. Yes. I am very much like Alice. I am real life Alice. Most people see the cute side of Alice in Wonderland. The innocent side of the story. They see the sugar coating. I see the sour truth because I am the sour truth.
