To take advantage of a window of cooler weather during noon time, I decided to drop by Blair Road to do some sketching. Line drawing was done by a Pentel brush pen on sketchbook. I took a photo and imported the BW sketch into Procreate to put in some colours digitally since I did not have my watercolour palette with me. I added watercolour to the BW sketch later in the studio. A pocket brush pen is an artist’s best friend. Anyway this is Sam Leong Road. Despite all the condo developments in this area, many pre-war shophouses are conserved, some refurbished and repainted over the years. Most house traditional eateries, restaurants and coffee shops that are the open air type, thus preserving the South East Asian kind of ambience and look. This is endangered heritage that faces elimination sooner or later. 2018 has been an interesting and amazing year, an incredible journey of learning and teaching at the same time.
