I can absolutely see a lot of young girls in the Backstreets turning to sex work. Especially since it seems that the vast majority ways to make a living in The City that don't require status and connections is combat-focused. Children are more likely to become meat shields for Syndicates if they go down that path. Sancho knew that. She wasn't ready to die yet.

Where my headcanons differ is that I hc Sancho didn't lie about her age to get into sex work. She didn't have to. Age requirements only applied to Nests and Associations (I wager many Backstreets-born kids lied about their age to become fixers). I don't think she even knew her age.

As such, she also didn't lie about her age to Papa Quixote. My version of Quixote cares a lot less about that. I'm unsure yet but I may hc that he was also a Backstreets-born kid. Nest-born kids have much stronger concept of youth-adult distinction, but in the Backstreets, you're either a useless sack of flesh or a useful sack of flesh (or metal I suppose!).

I'd like to write more hcs about underaged sex worker Sancho but I'm lacking a lot of knowledge about sex work at the moment, so I'll get back to this once I've done more research!

I go back and forth on whether she lied or not but I definitely think she didn't really know her age! Also YES to backstreets born Quixote. I think Sancho's past mirrors Quixote's which is why he was so drawn to her!!

12 year old Sancho is my personal preference because of my introject. I have always headcanoned Don as looking young and having a flat chest so with Canto 7 lore, I worked that in there.

With Sancho being poor and starving, I feel she of course would turn to sex work (as someone who in real life had to do the same) so again, I wanted to have something that reflected my own experiences.

Her being so young is mostly my dick talking, won't lie. She could have been legal age or at least teens but to me, trying to live to that age with no parents or income would be a lot to ask. Not impossible of course.

I also don't really think it makes it any worse than what is canon I suppose? Sancho was obviously young and not educated even in canon. Quixote would still have to "raise" her in a lot of aspects. It's still fauxcest.

I think the immortality definitely makes a difference. Especially in my headcanon Quixote never treated her like a child, mostly because she did not act like one and actively tried to hide her age from him. My headcanon also is that they didn't get together for uh... 100s of years. Which I think definitely makes it 'normal'. Plus Sancho's insane guilt and self disgust regarding her feelings.

Do you ever think Papa Quixote has second thoughts on pursuing Sancho? That he feels like he groomed her because:

A: early turning age-wise

B: she was Very Much Alone before

C: Now completely attached to him partly in due to B

Even if it was however long after, the guilt of mutual want versus upbringing becomes very compelling. If you agree, what would then be the turning point?

Quixote doesn't have second thoughts exactly but he definitely feels guilty and never made the first move because of it. Even after Sancho initiated things, he tended to always worry and double check with her. They don't actually do anything until a while after Bari so Sancho was very very old mentally by then.

Sancho herself has HORRIBLE guilt over her feelings for Quixote and she only ends up making a move so to speak because she is at her breaking point and he realizes something is wrong. He corners her and she doesn't really have a way out without outright lying and she can't do that. Quixote had an idea that she had feelings for him but they both were struggling with the guilt.

Quixote is able to quickly get over it in order to comfort Sancho who struggles with feelings of disgust and self hatred. It's her struggles that help him overcome his own, because in comforting her, he is also comforting himself. It's a pretty messy start to a relationship and at first Quixote tries to keep a space between them, assuring Sancho her feelings are normal and not bad while also not giving any evidence he feels the same. It leads to a lot of mixed signals and a point where they are avoiding each other for the first time since Sancho was changed. It's bad.

Thoughts?

YES. i really like the idea she struggles A LOT with orgasms, especially when if there's penetration involved. it connects to my hc that she was an underaged sex worker so she struggles to relax enough to cum but also her body is really small so penetration tends to hurt. i think she never had an orgasm until Quixote and even that it was mostly because she couldn't NOT orgasm because I think when fucking a higher kindred theres a feedback loop and it feels insanely good because bloodfiend instincts. but this then leads to her being startled and confused and even kind of scared by the intensity!
