These girls were nothing like we'd seen since Bratz was at it peak. They're all high quality dolls, but let's focus on Swag as our "for instance":

Multiple layers of clothes, and said clothing is made of multiple types of fabric. Quality fabric at that, none of that papery stuff mattel uses. Those are real little buttons on her pants, and a little zipper.
The designs are so strong, even if you find one garish, there's an OMGLOL for everyone.

The second set are Fairytopia Magical Mermaid: Barbie gave these dolls collector level screenings. My Kayla has kanekalon & Christie has saran. The mermaid dolls had vinyl tails that did not hold up well so you can often get a bargain because the doll’s lower body is torn.
So if the current extra or fashionistas leave you unmoved, take a dive into 2000s Barbie! Aliexpress has quite a few under “NK head” or ebay is a good bet by searching for the character names “kayla,lea,christie,nikki,teresa” and words like “ethnic, aa, asian” and be forewarned that some people list their dolls of colour with outdated or outright offensive language.
