from last nightâs episode (20x09)
The ones who follow my blog know that I do this every once in a blue moon but I just have to or I feel like I am going crazy.
I read a few times that this was supposed to be a good episode but I feel like it was frustrating. Every character on the show seems to be on a stand-still but Ollie and Dofty. They are the only ones moving forward. I am glad Roxanna McMillan is trying so hard to help Ollie and is refusing to give up on him. We know the reason why and I suspected it but I feel like this is helping her move on and deal with her grief. But I have the dumb feeling that the writers have the long-term goal to set her up with John Gaskell and I pray to God I am wrong. I like her but I donÂŽt trust him as far as I can throw him. I canÂŽt put my finger on it but everything he does has a deeper meaning, something to frame someone who stands in his way. Â
The frustrating thing about the episode is Jac and Fletch. I donÂŽt understand Fletchâs behavior. Up till 20x07 he was understanding, patient, didnÂŽt judge her for her outbursts because he just knew she is complex and needs time. He just let her be herself and didnÂŽt push her. I get that he is anxious to lose people he loves, especially the one he is in love with, with his bff (or more who knows, I still think heÂŽs bi) Raf being dead. I get that he maybe panicky and freaking out easily. But he said himself that he and Jac have been through a lot together and then at the end of 20x08 he suddenly tries to push her and then tells her to keep it all professionally. And now in this ep he was all angry, frustrated, mean and judgemental. Basically the complete opposite of what we know Fletch for. He is hurting I know, but for me thatÂŽs no justification just to act completely different and OOC in my opinion (and if someone understands this, please let me know). That is a weird way they are leading him and Jac. They came so close and now itÂŽs like they went 3 steps back and are far from where they were last week. I get Jacâs behvior, she is just reacting to how he treats her (We reap what we sow), and we know that Jac can be mean when sheÂŽs hurt. And sheÂŽs hurt. He pushed her and went cold and closed off and I donÂŽt get why.Â
Frieda really wanted to help but I fear she may have overstepped her boundaries. Jac is her superior afterall and she may have wanted too much of her. And she completely misjudged the situation and then Jac reacted the way she does when she feels backed up against a wall with no way out. That was to be expected.
But back to Jac and Fletch. I didnÂŽt really expect them to kiss really. The slow burn is too much at this point. ItÂŽs annoying and it borders on boredom. And I know what I am talking about. I watched The X-Files and it took seven years/ seven seasons for them to get together but it was a slow progression and felt natural with no stand-stills and weird OOC actions, same goes for Dom and Lofty. But at some point you have to move forward and not try to force drama on characters when itÂŽs completely out of place. And unless Fletch finds out himself about her pain or they have an angry shouting argument about something that ends up in a confession or a kiss, I donÂŽt know how they want to move back to the lovey-dovey alley Jac and Fletch were on only last week.
Those were my two cents on the episode. Thank God for Dom and Lofty though! About time!
