Hello to you too, anon! I don’t know who says that but it can only be called a headcanon that’s not based on how characters act and feel about eachother in canon. Obviously Viola hates Doflamingo. I mean, duh, he ruthlessly took Dressrosa over, killed many of its citizens, caused tragedies within her family…yeah, she hates him (and I mean, I’m gonna say one obvious things - this relatonship is problematic/ *eureca*).

I see it as a hate relationship. On Viola’s part. She ended up ‘’being a part of’’ Donquixote family just because she offered her obedience to Doflamingo in exchange for her father’s safety. As for Doflamingo, he mainly saw her as a useful asset, because of her devil-fruit powers. And the rest is us projecting that relationship Oda proclaimed as canon based on what we know about them. I can’t personally see Viola as his ‘sex-slave’. a.k.a Viola acting and being all hopeless, Doflamingo completely in demand. And I don’t like that, it doesn’t give anything. But also based on canon material that wouldn’t make sense. Viola’s character doesn’t fit in that role, and also Doflamingo DOES care about his family members (until you betray him lol), and her ending up being one, I can’t see him being really ruthless toward her, not giving her any freedom.

It’s a sexual realtionship, where hate never leaves one side. You can see it in a lot of ways. Doflamingo finds her attractive, makes a move determined to take her, she being in the not so good position ending up agreeing with ~spending time~ with him (or lol you can picture their first time being a result of her being very drunk, she can’t think straight, Doflamingo IS hot, and yeah). And 10 years is a lot of time. Doflamingo is a rather sexual person (I don’t really need to explain this) and Viola is canonically stated to be a passionate person (and they are both hot, so - MEGA EYE CANDY). Doflamingo is not delusional, he knows she hates him, for reasons he’s more than aware of. He can be passive agressive towards her, she towards him, you can picture all kinds of scenarios with them. 

As for her being physically attracted to him - I don’t like thinking that she isn’t, because picture this - This relationship is stated as canon. And now, imagine Viola having sexual situations, with a man she hates, for around 10 years and not being able to get ANY kind of satisfaction from that. So - it would be case of Viola only suffering for 10 years in a sexual relationship with a man she hates. Nope. I’m not seeing her like that, I refuse. I see her as a passionate woman who can turn even such a traumatic thing in being convinient for her. Pleasurable. You have attractive man who won’t really cause you harm (because you are part of his pirate family). Ok, might as well turn this into something that’s not totally unbaerable. While Doflamingo sees an attractive, passionate woman. He might as well see being with her as a challenge, since he knows she hates him. Probably after having his partners being totally obediant to him, being with her from time to time is far more interesting. And so the scenarios go.

Well, what to say, this is an interesting ask. While I do damn like that pairing I can’t look at it from some ‘love-story’ angle. It’s one of my favest hate ships, and it’s a hate ship only. Only in some very-different-from-canon AU, with some special scenario, I can see some kind of love existing between them. Other than that, I can’t.

But like I said, that doesn’t mean I dislike the pairing. Because I daaamn like it. (I mean just for example, that scene when Viola confronted Doflamingo made me make a post like this in an instant). Just that I see it only as a hate-ship. And I’ll get to that part eventually//. Just first - for that love-story aspect that you mentioned, to clear up what I meant to say - when it comes to Viola, for example, there was never any possible subtext in her lines directed to, or that have anything to do with Doflamingo, that could hint us the possibility of her having any other feelings than resent for him. Nor I myself could wrap my mind around the idea of her having feelings similar to love for him, or try to headcanon something like that. Doflamingo held a country and the people of the country she and her family lived in under secret and utter terror, he and his ‘family’ ruined lifes of her family and of many people in Dressrosa. And for whole 10 years she was under pressure of all that. I can’t even wrap my mind around the idea of her having appreciating feelings for him (’’similar’’ case as Vivi with Crocodile and Nami with Arlong, for example/// tho from one aspect it is very different, because Viola is much older than Nami or Vivi//// but just to say - I’m not gonna act like some kind of tumblr-’’police’’ and call out people who like *fictional* ships like that, People like ships in different ways and for different reasons, people are aware they are problematic, and people often use AUs for ships like that. There are many, many ways people ship things. And the main point is that most of people are aware pairings like those are problematic. Agressively attacking and calling out people you know nothing about for shipping some ‘’problematic’’ ship, and plus over a computer screen, is one of most ridiculous things to do. Not talking to you personally, anon, but in general)). Back to the point.

On the other side you have Doflamingo for whom I also can’t see having those sort of feelings towards Viola. For starters, Viola only got to his ‘family’ because she asked him to, as a sort of a guarantee that he’d spare her father’s life in exchange. She was just a valuable, let’s say, ‘’asset’’ for him .He kept her because she owned a very useful devil-fruit. And also, he’s aware she resents him. And that he can’t trust her. She stays there only if her father is safe. Doflamingo can’t trust her like he does trust others in his family. Viola is completely clearly not loyal to him from the very start. There was no any room there for neither of them to start finding the other to be of some genuine importance to the other.

If we want to talk about some kind of ‘acknowledgement’ between them, they could only objectively observe one another and notice the qualities each of them have. Because yes, aside from twisted morality Doflamingo has many many qualities and admirable sides (and I don’t give a damn if I get ‘’attacked’ or confronted’’ by someone because of saying this, I can back it up with a book of arguments, I’m not gonna stay blind towards his admirable sides and stay silent about them just because he’s a ‘villain’, no). As for Viola, well I don’t need to try to clarify that she has qualities ((and I wish I could starts talking in details on this topic when it comes to these two but than I’m momentarely going off the topic and plus it would be l.o.n.g.)). And..we could count on physical attraction if we want to. From Viola’s side only as an objective-observation though. Nothing genuine. 

So yeah, as a love-story thing, I can’t see it. But as a hate-ship, whoa damn - yes yes and yes. The dinamics, the tension, Doflamingo, Viola being able to stand her ground through everything, There are whole 10 years there and honestly, it’s too tempting to me not to think about their interaction. I don’t need to start talking about Doflamingo here in details, my love for him is all around this blog and everywhere. And I damn love Viola, she rocks. And that flamenco-passion theme she carries with herself and just..I really really like this pairing. In the way I tried explaining here. And visually too, they are a freaking bomb.

Also that confrontation scene was too much for me not to get my mind go in that direction when in comes to these two together
