“While I do hope you’ll respect my privacy as I continue my feud with Betty, I would like to discuss The Bachelorette and her terrible life choices.” Kevin said moving to sit down next to Veronica in the student lounge. “Because, how can someone pick James over Kyle?” Kevin said trying to keep things light as he was sure Betty had told Veronica all about the fight they had. “I mean, has she seen Kyle’s ass?” 

veronica was dealing with a lot at the moment, her mother had betrayed her, used her name like it didn’t mean anything. one of the only things that had kept her sane through losing everything was her mother assuring her that no one could ever take her name. now she had gone and done exactly that.

she trudged through the woods with her friends, hoping that searching for betty’s missing sister she would provide a distraction from her own inner turmoil. she split off with kevin and started to tell him about what was happening. “i have a formula that i follow. i’ll go on a party bender with a very specific posse. you, obviously. i was thinking josie, and then some dumb arm candy.”

at that moment the two of them walked past reggie. “i think i’ve found the perfect candidate.” she motioned for kevin to keep walking as she stopped to talk to reggie. “you mean you weren’t taking a selfie while looking for a missing girl?”

a smirk played on veronica’s lips as she looked him over. he was perfect for a night out dancing, she just hoped he was a decent dancer. “how about you trade in those mimosas for shots at the roving eye later? we can shake off all this drama with some dancing.”

A smirk tugged at a corner of his own lips when Veronica called him out like that. Truly, he didn't have much in the way of an excuse. Selfie'ing while searching for a missing girl who dated his dead friend was objectively a horribly insensitive thing to be doing. His heart was in the right place for joining the search crew, but there was only so long Reggie Mantle could really go without succumbing to the urge to look at himself.

Veronica didn't seem too offended by his indiscretion, though, which was a little relieving given that the girl had every reason to dislike him. Between the fight with Archie in the student lounge and this, Reggie hadn't painted the best picture of himself, but still, was she... flirting?

"Oh, well actually I was making that post to raise awareness for Polly," he quipped, wearing a full-fledged grin by that point because there was no way he could actually deny the accusation, "which you can tell by the sad face I was making in the selfie. Are you following me on Instagram? Because you should. I've been told that some of the pics of my dog Vader are actually pretty artistic."

Her counteroffer was much better, and whatever prior plans Reggie may have had for the evening, his schedule had suddenly cleared right up.
