In 2023 I undertook a project to document all the locations in Spokane County where the body of an unidentified person was found. I went to each location on the same date they were found to capture, as best I could, the conditions in which they were found.

 Take a forty-minute walk from my house in Gloucester and you find yourself in the midst of the building of a mass development of new houses. The houses are being built on what used to be a vast expanse of green land, fields and meadows. The land was home to a vast majority of animals, including deer.

The development is named Coopers Edge and proudly boasts the slogan ‘Home by the Hill.’ Behind these houses stands a picturesque backdrop of rolling green hills that Gloucestershire is so well known for, however the majority of home owners are unlikely to see them.

As more homes are built they are being placed closer, and closer together to fit in as many new properties as possible. The view that you are most likely to have is that of the back wall of a next-door neighbors home.

Situated a few short steps from the houses are the Hucclecote Meadows. These meadows are an SSSI, known to be the home to barn owls and Veteran Trees. Although the company developing the housing estate has promised to be mindful of the natural surroundings and have put in place measures to protect the wildlife I still feel that this development will greatly disturb the animals that have made their home in the Greenland, the deer are no longer anywhere to be seen, and will destroy this beautiful area which is officially named as an ‘Area Of Outstanding Beauty’.
