“Thank you. I---” A small smile, uncertain about how to follow that smoothly; this was not her forte. Cheeks burned pink at the gentle contact of their fingers. That was exactly how she made her feel: blissful, strong enough to take on the world, but she was too anxious to be upfront about it. Instead, she gave her small compliments every now and then, compliments that were always returned, which made her think the doctor felt the same way, but what if she didn’t? Did their lunches, coffee runs, and long conversations over takeout count as dates or as work meetings? Were they more than close coworkers? “I’ve been told there’s a thriving theater district in Central City, but I’ve yet to explore it, and I was wondering if you maybe--- wanted to...?”
