I may be a decade late but I just learned that there was a writer’s strike in Hollywood in 07 which directly lead to an obvious down turn in tv show content quality. This lines up perfectly with the “season we shall not name”. So I have decided that “it” doesn’t exist and doesn’t count towards canon. Thank you and goodnight.
Hi! So while this is a great theory, I unfortunately don’t think this is the case. The last episode of That ‘70s Show aired in May 2006 (filmed/produced months earlier presumably) and the writers strike did not begin until November 2007.
The last season of T7S did lose executive producers/writers Jeff and Jackie Filgo, who were big Jackie/Hyde fans.
