But yeah, things like the persistently subluxating shoulder are exactly what got put off on "arthritis", "bursitis", "all in your head" (especially with the TMJ problems), etc. when I was younger and also had no clue why my joints just kept doing annoying things. Usually without even examining things much, but making weird assumptions solely based on pain and reduced range of motion (for me, though often still "normal" range). Hint: when joints are even partially dislocated, they don't work so well.
I eventually just stopped even mentioning it at home, because of getting pushed/forced into another doctor visit that didn't help and often left me feeling worse in multiple ways.
Finding out that actual orthopedic subluxation is a thing was very helpful indeed; the only context I heard it in before was chiropractic, and yeah. Not the same thing at all. Before, it certainly kept feeling like things were partway out of joint, but I got dismissed when I actually said that. Without their even bothering to check whether it was totally in joint. And I don't even have nearly the level of dislocation/subluxation problems as some other people I know. :-|
