“Cardoc, love,” Molly said sweetly as she laid eyes on who would hopefully be her hero. Not the evening she hoped to be spending with him, but maybe one that could offer him some joy nonetheless. “I hate to spring this on you, but we’ve had some entertainers come down with a case of Scrofungulus and I was wondering if you’d be able to step in?”

“Okay, come model it!” Leigh shouted from outside the dressing room. The manager at Gladrags had been an old friend of Leigh’s Aunt Jessie. They were close enough that the manager allowed Leigh to come in on the weekends to sew and work on a few of her own creations. Halloween was obviously on the mind, as it always was every October when she made her own costume. This year she was making them for other people, too, and it’d been the most fun she’d ever had.
