Glad you liked my thoughts!. Also I think their chemistry as silas and amara was really incredible at portraying that yearning, passionate, eternal kind of love. Paul and Nina did such a good job of crafting their chemistry in a way that felt completely different from how they played Stelena or Steferine. I think they relied on a lot of subtlety, and that’s one of the reasons I find their chemistry as silas and amara so compelling.

Take the scene where Silas meets Amara and tells her he’s taken the cure.

The way Paul acts with just his eyes, the vulnerability Silas shows toward Amara, and the subtle tears welling up without fully breaking down all create such a different emotional range. Their chemistry carries so much of that scene.

Their chemistry could portray yearning so effortlessly. There’s this overwhelming sense of two people who desperately want to be together but can’t, yet their love for each other never wavers.

And the way they delivered it in this scene was truly amazing.

The way they used eye contact, physical closeness, those restrained tears, and the quiet agony of not being able to be together was portrayed beautifully. I also find it fascinating how Nina carries herself with such grace whenever she has to play emotionally intense scenes with Paul.

In this final scene especially:

True their chemistry is seriously underrated because of how differently Paul and Nina portrayed Stefan and Katherine compared to Stefan and Elena. They were incredible at creating soft, gentle, and emotionally intimate chemistry as Stelena, but with Steferine, it became something completely different.

The way they brought Katherine’s obsession and the complexity of their relationship to life was genuinely unmatched. There are couples on the show that are meant to be angsty and lustful, but no one portrayed that particular dynamic the way Paul and Nina did as Stefan and Katherine.

Just look at their 5x09 scene when they’re locked together.

Their chemistry in that scene is insane. The way Nina plays Katherine with those expressions, the way she parts her lips, takes that breath near him, and leans into his space. Every little movement sells Katherine’s pull toward Stefan. I honestly don’t think Nina displays that particular range with anyone else the way she does as Katherine with Stefan. And Paul matches her perfectly. They were completely locked into that dynamic.

Even when it comes to the angst, no one does it like Steferine does:

What I also love is how Paul and Nina portray the emotional complexity between them. Paul does such a subtle job of showing that Stefan isn’t in love with Katherine and never can be, but he still conveys that lingering care and the complicated history they share. Meanwhile, Nina fully commits to Katherine’s emotions, her obsession, her longing, and how desperately she wants Stefan to love her back. Katherine feels everything so intensely, while Stefan simply can’t give her what she wants and they communicate all of that in their 5x10 scene

The way they portrayed those complex emotions here is honestly incredible.

They conveyed hatred, complicated feelings, obsession, desperation, and even moments of softness entirely through their chemistry whenever the scene called for it.

Yeah, I disagree. I think that when Elena was with Stefan, that was genuine emotion, that is what she felt and it was more than simply being sorry that he was hurt because we’ve seen Elena be sorry that she said something that hurt someone who was lost in love with her:

There is no sense of panic, there is no sense anxiety or desperation, she just feels bad. With Stefan:

and what’s more is that she brings it up when she has no humanity and the sire bond isn’t a factor

The fact that Elena is on the phone with Damon and tells him she loves him then gets excited because he’s excited just tells me that the sire bond is in effect because throughout season 4, when she’s with Stefan, it’s like Elena comes out and combats the sire bond without realizing:
