Syn had been watching the man for the past ten minutes as she leaned against the dark corner of her alley. After her shift at the local grocery store, she had made her way back to the little shack made out of boxes and an old fridge. She had putting things away when she spotted him. Despite what he said, he certainly didn’t seem...well, not lost.Â
The girl approached him carefully, her hair falling to one side as he blue eyes looked him up at down. Syn offered him a quiet smile. “Are you sure, mister? The alley gets all twisty and it’s getting dark out. Most people would be either hitting the bars or heading to bed by now, not wandering around the streets.” Her voice was soft and only carried to his ears. A car whizzed past them before squealing as it turned the corner. “What’s your name?” She eventually asked.

Rocket stood at a distance, eyeing the strange Terran suspiciously. While seeing Quill’s home planet had sounded like a good idea at the time, Rocket had quickly discovered that most Terrans looked the same to him and, worse, most seemed absolutely determined to pet him, causing him to retreat and observe from afar.
That changed when he caught sight of the sun glinting off this new Terran’s arm. Rocket had always held a strange fascination with shiny things and prosthetics - a fascination he himself didn’t fully understand - and the arm fulfilled both requirements. Taking a deep breath, he strode over and reached up a paw, tugging at the leg of the Terran’s pants and clearing his throat. “Sir? Excuse me? Sir!”
