I think we should be clear on what is and isn't problematic speculation about the gender identities of Dan and Phil
Things that are fine:
Being gender nonconforming and identifying or finding validation is Dan or Phil's gender expression
Writing fanfiction or creating fanart that either genderbends Dan and/or Phil or has them in an AU (alternate universe) in which one or both are transgender
Using feminine or gender nonconforming pronouns for Dan and Phil when they are performing a gender (IE. Sister Daniel is drag)
Making compilation videos of Dan and/or Phil expressing gender nonconformity
Things that are not fine:
Speculating that Dan and/or Phil are secretly trans/gender nonconforming IRL and are hiding it (a la Phan)
Investigating into Dan and Phil's personal lives to find information on their gender identity/ies
Making conspiracy/speculatory posts to convince others of your beliefs
Intentional misgendering
Also not fine:
Bullying, belittling, or publicly shaming other phannies who do these.
Instead, if you see someone crossing a boundary:
Message them reminding them of that boundary and why it is in place
Have an open conversation and approach others with kindness and understanding (we were all young once, and everyone makes mistakes)
Block them if necessary
