New "Nimona" movie clip!
Found in this new Collider article, along with some concept art. The clip connects scenes we've seen elsewhere (and stills) with new footage!!
The movie, based on the webcomic/graphic novel by ND Stevenson, is by Annapurna Animation and DNEG, and premiered on June 14 at the 2023 Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, will show in limited theaters on June 23, and be up for streaming on Netflix on June 30! (More info here)
That Came with the Frame
In Devs, the onset golden quantum computer prop was a practical build and quite substantial, weighing approximately half a ton. The onset design referenced real Quantum computer systems from companies such as IBM, and Google, except in the real world, the ‘chandelier’ would be encased in a cooling box since most of the gold apparatus one sees is related to cooling the quantum computer not any actual computation. “It was massive, but all of that quantum computer is practical. That prop should now be in an art gallery. It was stunning,” says Whitehurst.
The majority of the visual effects were created by DNEG in London which has a long history in dealing with Sc-Fi content with respect and tremendous visual fidelity. Films such as Inception and Interstellar have gained the company both Oscars and genuine respect from the science community.
Director Denis Villeneuve on creating the spaceships of Dune (2021): “It's a process I deeply love. It was quite challenging because Dune did inspire a lot of other movies in the past. The challenge was to try to bring something fresh to the screen. To do so, we entirely focused on the novel and the description that Frank Herbert did. I tried to go back to the image that I had in my mind when I was a teen when I read the novel the first time.”

My ★★★ review of The Garfield Movie on Letterboxd:
There's an entertaining original heist comedy in this film somewhere, but it's smeared with a distracting Garfield paint job just to be mark
DNEG (whose recent productions include Oppenheimer, Nimona, and Dune) are up to some absolutely wild bullshit. A 25% paycut is already a ridiculous sum, and their suggested loan system is baffling. Keeping an eye out for more information on this. (link to post from the Animation & Visual Effects Union UK on linkedin)
One of the most beautiful shots from Chapter One of #DoctorWhoFlux. Stunning visual! • The Halloween Apocalypse (Doctor Who)
