fun gang helping you with reassurance seeking ocd (obviously mild tw for mention of OCD)
kris: didn't ever really feed into it anyway. any time you ever try to double check something with them they just give you an answer thats making fun of the question ("Do you hate me?" "Yeah, totally. Mom wants to know if your coming to dinner. I dont want you to tho.") when you make a point of asking them to give you a hand with handlng the compulsion they just double down. When you tell them that your therapist recommended giving your OCD a stupid name, them and susie immediately start workshopping.
susie: fed into it on occasion, especially when the OCD focused on her perception of you. She doesn't actually want you to think she hates her. normally she'd treat the first time you asked like it was a joke, then any following ones seriously. when you ask her to give you a hand with battling the compulsion by not feeding it, she feels really bad in private for a bit, because she thought she was helping by reassuring you. I think she would really struggle not comforting you, so instead you come up with another plan. She can answer your question the first time, in case it is genuine, but anything after that she responds with a non-answer, normally whatever meme kris has her looped into that week. "Are you angry at me?" "No dude, course not." "Are you sure?" "Ye- uh. Bacon, bacon, bacon."
Ralsei: similar to Susie, he normally feeds into it unknowingly. i think he'd be worse for it, actually. He would, naturally, hate the thought that he had done anything to make you believe he thinks poorly of you. if the reassurance seeking focused on something other than him, he'd probably write it off as normal anxiety. when you ask him to give you a hand, i think again react a little like Susie. and again, maybe worse. he'd feel so terrible for making your anxiety worse that he wouldn't be able to hold a conversation with you without overcompensating for his mistake by constantly checking in, or avoiding eye contact from guilt. when you reassure him that really, there was no way for him to know before you said anything, he takes his new task very seriously. anytime you ask a question with a little too much anxiety in your voice, he gives you a look weirdly like your therapist's. "Are you sure its safe?" "Is that you asking, or is it the OCD asking?" "Its a 20 foot drop i feel like the OCD has a point-" "Just go down the slide"
